Hogwarts Legacy transmog explained

Hogwarts Legacy transmog allows any gear piece to take on the appearance of other items you have previously obtained, and even unique Collections clothing options, all without changing stats.

If you have a specific gear piece you really like the stats and traits on, but not the appearance, then you can use transmog to change its look. Likewise, if you collect a style you really like but the item itself has poor stats, then you’ll be able to apply said style to another item.

How to transmog items in Hogwarts Legacy

To transmog items and change gear appearance in Hogwarts Legacy, open the gear tab in the menus and hover over an equipped slot and select change appearance. This can be done by pressing square on PlayStation, X on Xbox, and F on PC.

From here you will be able to freely select from two categories of gear appearance: Collections and Other.

Collections are unique clothing styles earned from completing specific quests and challenges, or through promotions such as the Dark Arts Pack obtained through direct purchase of the Deluxe Edition. These styles are technically not available as gear pieces with stats, only as special gear appearance options available through transmog.

Other includes the styles of any previously obtained gear piece. This means that every time you pick up a gear piece with a style you haven’t obtained before, it will automatically be added to the transmog screen. This saves a lot of hassle as you don’t need to hoard useless gear or manually add items to the transmog collection.

How to use the Dark Arts Pack outfits?

The Hogwarts Legacy Dark Arts Pack outfit pieces are only available within the transmog system, so you won’t see them in your gear inventory. To use the Dark Arts outfit, such as the stylish Dark Arts robes, you’ll need to go into the transmog menu and find it in the special Collections area.

Now you’re ready to dress up however you want using the Hogwarts Legacy transmog system. Don’t forget that you also have to spent time in class so you’re prepared to defend Hogwarts. To help you with that, we have even more tips, tricks, and guides in our handy Hogwarts Legacy walkthrough.

Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.

While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
