Your efforts on the frontline are needed more than ever in Helldivers 2, as players take the fight to the first Automaton invasion. It is exceptionally tough, but if you can survive, you’ll net yourself a tidy XP profit. Arrowhead Game Studios is giving all players the opportunity to level up faster, thanks to this awesome Helldivers 2 XP boost.
Launching a live service game isn’t easy, and problems are bound to arise. We’ve seen it happen countless times, more recently with Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League and Helldivers 2, and now Arrowhead Game Studios is making up for its problems with 50% increased XP across all operations. The XP boost is live now in the new PS5 game, but it won’t be sticking around as a permanent addition. Game director Sagar Beroshi confirms that from Friday, February 16, 2024, until Sunday, February 18, 2024, is when the extra XP will be active.
In a recent post on social media, Beroshi says that “you can tell this additional multiplier is active when you see a Game Master Effect labeled ‘Accounting Corrections’ while on the Super Destroyer.” We’ve been taking advantage of this limited-time boost, specifically by trying to hold back Automaton forces in the game’s first Helldivers 2 invasion event. Essentially, invasions act as a weekly reset event, urging players to participate as the game’s war develops in exciting ways.
Banding together as a community is the key to success in Helldivers 2, especially as the multiplayer game‘s action unfolds in real-time. That means enemy forces are consistently fighting back in each area of the galaxy, making it extremely difficult to liberate them.
Once a sector is liberated, the planets inside it won’t be able to revisited, but you’ll be finding tons of new worlds as you continue to play. The Automaton invasion isn’t going particular well, though.
At the time of writing, the Automaton forces are fiercely defeating players in the Severin Sector. After spending some time on the battlefield ourselves, we were immediately overwhelmed by troop carriers and all manner of cybernetic chaos. Playing on Hard or above especially carries a notable difficult spike with it, too.
Whether the game’s community can push them back remains to be seen. In related news about one of the best co-op games around, Arrowhead Game Studios isn’t interested in bringing Helldivers 2 PvP to the game, but there are plans to enhance its post-launch content.
