If you thought Gran Turismo 7 couldn’t be more immersive, well, fasten your seatbelts. If you’re eyeing up the PSVR2 release date, you’ll be pleased to know that all GT7 owners will be granted access to a cheeky free upgrade of the acclaimed racer. And there’s even more that Gran Turismo fans can look forward to.

During the CES 2023 press conference, SIE CEO Jim Ryan revealed that Gran Turismo 7 will make the leap to PSVR2. “I’m excited to announce that one of our most storied franchises will be coming to PSVR2,” Ryan says.

According to Ryan, Gran Turismo 7 has “sold more copies across the series than any other title developed by PlayStation Studios.” Thanks to the free upgrade “players will be able to experience the game like never before.”

If you’re worried about having enough space to race, don’t worry, PSVR2 is prepared to tackle that issue. Speaking on the capabilities of PSVR, Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida also added that “the virtual world is open to everyone”, as Destiny 2 devs Bungie and more discussed PSVR2’s potential.

The Gran Turismo franchise doesn’t just live in gaming anymore, though. Neill Blomkamp’s Gran Turismo movie debuted its first teaser trailer, offering a behind-the-scenes perspective of translating the game’s energy to the big screen. This marks Blomkamp’s first big-screen video game adaptation, alongside his work on the upcoming multiplayer FPS Off The Grid.

Starring Stranger Things star David Harbour, the movie’s lead Archie Madekwe portrays Jann Mardenborough, who crafted a real-life racing career through their prowess in Gran Turismo. With heaps of upcoming PS5 games to look forward to on PSVR2, the Gran Turismo 7 PSVR2 release date is just the beginning.
