Bandai Namco has revealed that Elden Ring has exceeded more than 13.4 million copies sold in the first five weeks of the game being on sale on consoles and PC

We already knew that Elden Ring was a massive hit with the game selling 12 million copies in less than four weeks. However, now, Bandai Namco has updated that number, revealing that the RPG has sold more than 13.4 million copies as of March 31, 2022.

The news comes from the latest Bandai Namco earnings call and quarterly report, which confirms the news. For reference, Dark Souls 3 has only sold 10 million copies as of the last sales number update and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has sold five million copies as of July 2020. So, the game has already eclipsed the sales of Sekiro and Dark Souls 3.

This is an insane number of sales for a game that has been out for just over a month as of this tally. With the game still being incredibly popular on social media, Twitch, and fun player stories like a player hiding in a bush for three hours to take revenge on an AFK Rune farmer emerging every day, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Elden Ring sell more than 20-25 million copies by the end of the year.

And, if Elden Ring does manage to pass that number, it will be well on its way to beating the entire lifetime sales of the Dark Souls series, which currently stands at 27 million copies. FromSoftware could even beat that number if the game sells a ton this holiday.

Either way, it is clear that Elden Ring has no signs of slowing down, with the game’s length being hundreds of hours if you want to play through the massive experience more than once. As such it has a lot of value to players as they can get a lot for their money.

Hopefully, FromSoftware can capitalise on the success and player enthusiasm over the next few years with some Elden Ring DLC, or a full Elden Ring sequel.
