Destiny 2 Lightfall is an event that players won’t want to miss. Developer Bungie is bringing the heat with its next major Destiny 2 expansion, as new dungeons and the city of Neomuna arrive. But landing back on Neptune isn’t the only thing to be excited about, as a recent trailer for Lightfall suggests that the mysterious Ishtar Collective and the Vex have an important role to play in Destiny 2 Lightfall.
Developer Bungie unveils new insights into Destiny 2 Lightfall release date, thanks to the release of the latest Destiny 2 ViDoc. Aimed at giving fans an unparalleled dive into the game’s galaxy, eagle-eyed fans of the first Destiny game will be quick to notice some very familiar environments. Destiny 2 enthusiast account ‘Destiny Bulletin‘ notes that “one of the shots from the ViDoc featured a very similar environment to D1’s Ishtar Ishtar Academy entrance on Venus.”
The account claims that “some new images were also scraped from the Lightfall Interactive trailer that shows Ishtar Collective statue on Venus.” It does seem like an uncanny resemblance to the Ishtar Academy entrance, though it does appear to have become derelict over the years. However, Destiny lore does provide some reasoning for the Ishtar Collective’s vital role in the universe.
Stationed on Venus in the first Destiny game, the Ishtar Collective conjured up their own facilities and thrived as a Golden Age organisation. Focused on advancing civilisation with radical scientific research, the Ishtar Collective pooled their efforts together to research the Vex ruins. A cyber-organic species that existed way before the known universe, the Vex appear to be in Destiny 2 Lightfall on Neomuna – but why are they here?
A recent trailer for Destiny 2 Lightfall shows off the Vex Network (or The Nexus), a time-travel tool that allows users to travel through the continually changing fabric of space and time itself. According to an interview via GameSpot with narrative designer Liz Baker, she says that “the Vex are something we’ve talked about a lot […] there’s a lot of interesting stuff with the Vex and their somewhat enigmatic goals.”
The reappearance of the Vex isn’t an ill-founded theory, as Baker explains “I don’t think you’re wrong to sense that what’s in the trailer is going to come up in the story.” Secrets and mysteries are bountiful in Destiny 2, so we’ll just have to explore Neomuna for ourselves soon.
Destiny 2 fans can also look forward to the Destiny 2 Season of Defiance release date, which brings new features, rewards, and tasty lore additions to tuck into.
