Destiny 2 Lightfall six-player activity is called Terminal Overload

Details about Destiny 2 Lightfall's new six-player activity has been sneakily revealed by Bungie, and it'll involve both the Vex and The Shadow Legion.

The Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion will deliver a whole host of new content to Bungie’s space shooter, from weapons, to locations, to an all-new Raid too. Without much fanfare though, Bungie has also sneakily added the name and short description of the new six-player activity to its official website – and it sounds like the Vex are up to some serious shenanigans.

We’ve already seen in various trailers that in the new location of Neomuna, both the Vex and The Shadow Legion (that’s the Cabal army led by Calus) are invading the city. It’s also now been confirmed that both forces will also be your opposition in the new six-player activity, which has the very Vex-y name of Terminal Overload.

The update to the Destiny 2 website, which was spotted by ‘Destiny Bulletin’ on Twitter, also includes a brief description of Terminal Overload: “The Shadow Legion and the Vex are conducting an all-out assault on the city. Put an end to their destruction in this 6-player matchmade activity.” Sounds fairly standard, all things considered. The wording however is open to a bit of interpretation – are both forces teaming up here to take down Neomuna, or are both in a race to reach some kind of prize within it or seize the city for themselves?

While not confirmed, it is likely that the brief glimpse of what looked like an area within the Vex network that was spotted in a recent Lightfall trailer is where this activity will be taking place. That snippet showed both Shadow Legion Cabal and Vex on the same bridge-like structure, but it was hard to tell if they are part of the same team or facing each other head-to-head when a fireteam of guardians jumps into frame. You can watch that moment in the time-stamped video below, but it is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

What seems to be that same environment can be seen in some new key art also found on the Destiny 2 website.

As well as this new activity, players will be counting down the days until the Destiny 2 Lightfall Raid release date. Well, Bungie has made a slight tweak to the description of the Raid that was on its website, alongside the reveal of Terminal Overload.

“Ferried from an unknown time and place, a haunting presence has been detected. We must now confront the ancient threat growing at our doorstep,” it reads.

As well as the subtle reveal of Terminal Overload was the less-subtle reveal of loads of new weapons and armor coming to Lightfall. We’ve definitely got some candidates for our best Destiny 2 weapons list here, including an icy new Lightfall exotic glaive.
