New Warzone nerfs tackle Season 6’s “one shot” Lockwood 300 build

The Lockwood 300 has dominated Warzone Season 6 so far, but the monstrous weapon's reign could be over, as new Warzone nerfs target the powerful shotgun.

Warzone Lockwood 300 nerf

One of the most frustrating elements of Warzone is getting obliterated without a chance to retaliate, and that is the kind of power that the Lockwood 300 possesses. Though the Warzone meta evolves every day, this hefty Season 6 titan is capable of wiping out players in one shot. Or at least it was, as new Warzone nerfs bring the gun down back to earth.

The latest Warzone patch notes dictate several tweaks to the best Warzone Season 6 guns, but crucially, Activision indicates that the Lockwood 300’s Maelstrom Dual Trigger is getting a damage reduction. Specifically, Activision clarifies that “Close damage range” and “Close-mid damage range” are decreased as of the Wednesday, October 11, 2023, update. This follows an attempt to nerf the exceptionally powerful Kastov 762 assault rifle, though we’ll let you judge if that nerf has succeeded.

By tinkering with the weapon in the game’s gunsmith, Call of Duty players can equip the Maelstrom Dual trigger, which effectively turns the Lockwood 300 into a “one shot” shotgun according to ‘FaZe Booya’. Previously, Warzone loadout expert ‘JGOD’ claims that the attachment takes the weapon to a “completely broken” level of damage. Despite firing two slugs, the attachment’s power is not to be understated in one of the best battle royale games around.

Additionally, the Maelstrom Dual Trigger extends the weapon’s range to approximately 10.5 meters through ADS, and 4.5 meters during hip fire shots. Though Activision is trying to nerf the Lockwood 300, Booya does suggest using this potential addition to the best Warzone loadouts, during your next trip to Vondel or Ashika Island:

  • Barrel: KAS-10 584MM
  • Rear Grip: Demo Cleanshot Grip -0.49, -0.22
  • Optic: SZ Recharge-DX
  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT85
  • Magazine: 40 Round Mag

Tuning is down to personal preference, though we would recommend prioritizing your aim-down-sight speed, as the Lockwood 300 isn’t the most agile of weapons. You don’t necessarily need to use Booya’s preferred setup. JGOD’s build is slightly different, and could still be of use while you experiment with your arsenal. To replicate his build, equip these attachments:

  • Barrel: Matuzek 812
  • Laser: Schlager ULO-66 Laser
  • Stock: Heist Stock Mod
  • Muzzle: Sakin DB107
  • Trigger: Action: Maelsorm Dual Trigger

That should keep you busy until a new era of Warzone arrives. But before then, here’s what you need to know about the new Warzone Urzikstan map and the fate of Al Mazrah.
