Use the following combination of attachments if you want the absolute best Modern Warfare 2 VEL 46 loadout possible, focusing on enhancing the damage range and mobility:

- Barrel: Tango 228 Barrel
- Muzzle: XTEN RR-40
- Underbarrel: Edge-47 Grip
As you have probably noticed, the first oddity with the VEL is that there is not sight recommendation here. That is because the iron sights on the gun are clean smooth and entirely useable at both close and medium ranges. So, it’s best to focus your attachment effort elsewhere.
One of those places to focus on is the VEL A-568 Collapsed stock. This offers high boosts to hip recoil control, sprint-to-fire speed, movement speed, and aim-down sight speed. All of this is hugely beneficial with the VEL as although it is very mobile already, this just takes it to the next level and can turn you into a machine as you move around the map.
It does lower some of your recoil control, but attachments like the Edge-47 Grip, improve your recoil stabilisation, and idle stability for when you are turning a corner or waiting for an enemy to. Thankfully the VEL has super low recoil and its very manageable so this brings it back to a baseline, alongside the XTEN RR-40 muzzle.
This attachment is key, boosting your damage range and bullet velocity all of which are highly sought-after traits with the VEL. While ok at a range already, this makes it a great weapon to use at range. It still won’t provide the same kind of reliability that an AR will, but it can easily be turned into one of the best long-range, accurate SMGs with this and the Tango 228 Barrel.
Finally, for a laser sight, you will want the Schalger ULO-66 laser which just adds that extra boost to your run-and-gun playstyle with improved accuracy and recoil control from the hip.
The VEL is certainly one of the best MW2 SMGs with these attachments only enhancing it. Both of these sidearms provide a semi-auto alternative either to pick off enemies from far away or to just land that final bullet when you burn through a magazine.
When it comes to equipment, we recommend using Stuns or Flash Grenades as your tactical, as this will help you when breaching into rooms or objectives. For the lethal equipment, Drill Charges are a great pairing or Frag Grenades as they couple well with the stuns when it comes to breaching objectives or rooms.
For Field Upgrades, Dead Silence is a great choice. This will help you get up close or flank players while making next to no footstep noise.
Now let’s talk about perks. For your Base Perks, we recommend Double Time (for even quicker movement) and Scavenger (the VEL can burn through its ammo rather quickly). For your Bonus Perk, Hardline is great for getting killstreaks more easily, which you will be doing with this loadout. Finally, for your Ultimate Perk, there are a lot of great picks, but we would personally opt for Ghost. After all, movement is key with this build and this keeps you off the radar and pairs nicely with the silencer.
