FPS fans are fighting it out in Battlefield 2042 Season 4, which packs a new batch of content into the EA DICE shooter. Although the latest Battlefield game launched to mixed reviews, numerous updates are winning the game’s fanbase back, and it appears that more content is planned to welcome new and familiar players – in the form of a Battlefield 2042 Year 2 upgrade.

The discovery of the as-of-yet unreleased Battlefield 2042 content pack is highlighted by Redditor ‘daniluk400’. “Some folks have spotted [a Battlefield 2042] ‘Year 2 upgrade’ in Origin and published their screenshots,” claims the BF2042 player. They say that “I’ve decided to become an ‘API man’ once again and use Origin API once more to check if this is fake.” After verifying the plausibility of the potential BF2042 upgrade, the Redditor explains “this is not fake, but it’s only one ‘offer’ inside [the] API with placeholder texts.”

According to their API finding, the Year 2 upgrade is currently listed as “BATTLEFIELD 2042 – YEAR 2 UPGRADE – PC – WW.” At this moment in time, the upgrade costs “2 euros”, but this appears to be nothing but a placeholder until an official price is revealed. What is even more intriguing is that the API was “last updated” on March 17.

"Year 2 Upgrade" is spotted in Origin from battlefield2042

While this listing allegedly confirms the appearance of the Battlefield 2042 Year 2 upgrade on Origin, it would be odd for the proposed offer not to extend to players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The upgrade also suggests that support for Battlefield 2042 could extend further than anticipated, as word on the next full-fledged Battlefield game is behind lock and key.

Battlefield 2042 Season 5 is set to debut in June, so it is possible that the Year 2 upgrade could drop before then to entice players back to maps like Orbital and Stranded.

The game has found itself experiencing an upward swing in recent months. Updates to Battlefield 2042 feature the return of the franchise’s classic class system, a feature that has been highly requested since the game originally debuted in 2021. The addition of Battlefield 2042 on Xbox Game Pass has helped the divisive shooter find a new audience too, as well launching on the PS Plus March 2023 free games list.
