Amelia Tyler – Narrator
As the disembodied voice narrating your experience, it’s best to start with Amelia Tyler and her role as the Narrator. Tyler has featured in over 60 games, films, and shows. In fact, if you’ve played Larian’s previous game, Divinity Original Sin 2, then you might recognise her as Malady. She also voices Hecate in the upcoming Hades 2 game. Besides that, she’s had roles in Pathfinder, Amnesia Rebirth, Gears Tactics, Battlefield 5, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and more, though these are largely minor characters.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 narrator will guide you through the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, exploring the deep world of characters, DnD races, and more.
Neil Newbon – Astarion
Neil Newbon stars as Astarion, one of the first companions you can acquire. The charming Rogue – one of the many Baldur’s Gate 3 classes – will join you party and you’ll no doubt recognise his voice from several great games. For example, Newbon voiced the iconic Karl Heisenberg from Resident Evil Village, Elijah Kamski in Detroit Become Human, and Zeon in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. He’s also got attributions for Star Wars The Old Republic, so fans of deep RPGs could also recognise him from there.
Jennifer English – Shadowheart
Jennifer English voices Shadowheart, another of the companions that can join you on your journey. As a Cleric, Shadowheart is one of the most useful and versatile DnD classes. In fact, Shadowheart is one of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 companions so you’ll most likely be hearing English’s voice for a long time. While English might not have quite as many credits as other cast members, her talent is undeniable, having voiced Latenna in Elden ring and Leya in Divinity Original Sin 2.
Devora Wilde – Lae’zel
Lae’zel, the Fighter of the group, is voice by Devora Wilde. Since her roles in the TV shows Hollyoaks (Georgia) and Pandora (Rachel), Wilde has starred in games as well. This includes various voices in Total War Warhammer 3 and Ops Comms RU Subcommander in Battlefield 2042.
Matthew Mercer – Minsc
Matthew Mercer has one of the most iconic voices in modern gaming, having knocked it out of the park as MacCready in Fallout 4, Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and Cassidy in Overwatch 2. He’s also starred in several hit TV series such as Jotaro in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Falco in Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and Umbrasyl in The Legend of Vox Machina. And now, he voices Minsc, one of the many companions in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Most interestingly though, Mercer is also the Dungeon Master in Critical Role, a weekly live show in which professional voice actors play through a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons. It’s great to see Mercer now playing a character in a D&D game, and fans will no doubt recognise his voice talent right away.
Tim Downie – Gale
Voicing Gale – the Wizard companion – in Baldur’s Gate 3, Tim Downie is most known for his roles in TV as Governor Tryon in Outlander, Danny Bear in Toast of London, and Marlowe in Upstart Crow. Downie even starred in Paddington as Montgomery Clyde. And now, he voices the suave and lovable Gale – who also has access to many of the best Baldur’s Gate 3 spells so they’re worth keeping in your party.
Tracy Wiles – Jaheira
Tracy Wiles is portraying Jaheira, another one of the BG3 companions. If you recognise her voice, it’s likely because she’s been lots of small roles across some of the best game of recent years, such as Diablo 4 and Total War Warhammer 3.
Samantha Beart – Karlach
Samantha Beart also joins the Baldur’s Gate 3 voice actors list as Karlach, another companion. Although Beart doesn’t have an extensive credits list, she has starred in big TV series and games. For example, she voices several characters, including Calliope in The Sandman podcast series, one of the player character voices in Demon’s Souls, and an array of voices in Troy: A Total War Saga.
Lanre Malaolu – Wyll
If you were to recognise Wyll’s voice actor, Lanre Malaolu, it would likely be from his role as Shane in the Hollyoaks TV series. Since then, he’s played a variety of small roles in shows like Casualty and Holby City.
Dave Jones – Halsin
Similarly, Dave Jones – the voice of the companion Halsin – has had previous roles in smaller TV series and games. Most recently, he played Josh in the show Significant Other. Prior to this, Jones has also had roles in games, including Company of Heroes 3, Diablo Immortal, and Planet Zoo.
J.K. Simmons – General Ketheric Thorm
J.K Simmons has one of the most recognisable and powerful voices in the scene, and it’s set to continue this streak as General Ketheric Thorm in the Baldur’s Gate 3 voice actors list. Simmons offered stellar performances as Fletcher in Whiplash, Omni-Man in Invincible, and (of course) as J. Jonah Jameson Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and other Spider-Man media.
With such talent, we’re glad to see him take on such a big role in Baldur’s Gate 3. Hopefully, it will rank among his many other great and incredibly memorable performances.
Jason Isaacs – Lord Enver Gortash
Award-winning actor Jason Isaacs, who you may know as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series or Mephisto in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, is joining the cast of Baldur’s Gate 3 as Lord Enver Gortash.
The up-and-coming designer of the new Steel Watchers, a series of magical clockwork soldiers being built to protect the city of Baldur’s Gate, Lord Enver Gortash is one of the most powerful people in the city walls and a major antagonist in the narrative. We’re sure Jason Issacs will once again put on a great performance in this role.
And that’s all the big names in the Baldur’s Gate 3 voice actors and cast list. No doubt you’ll recognise at least a few of the high-profile talent Larian has brought on board.
