Apex Legends’ Kill Code finale is bad news for everyone but Revenant

Respawn Entertainment is finally wrapping up Apex Legends' Kill Code storyline and the future is very bright, especially if you're Revenant.

The finale to Apex Legends‘ exciting Kill Code storyline is finally here and it’s safe to say that, well, no one is safe – other than Revenant, anyway. Respawn Entertainment’s four-part Apex Legends Kill Code storyline has been following on from Revenant’s rebirth and Duardo Silva’s plans to take advantage of the dangerous simulacrum. Meanwhile, it has also followed Loba’s attempts to finally eliminate him once and for all. Thanks to this new animated short, we now know what to expect next and it’s bad news in the best way.

We know climbing the Apex Legends ranks can be a nightmare at times, but the real nightmare in Apex Legends is Revenant – the deadly hitman turned even deadlier simulacrum with a bloodlust worth worrying about. Respawn Entertainment’s character work is part of what makes this game one of the best battle royale games out there and, while Revenant isn’t always considered one of the best Apex Legends characters to play as, he’s certainly one of the more interesting ones when it comes to his lore – and that isn’t changing anytime soon.

With everyone, including Revenant, largely united in their goal to destroy the human head of Caleb Cross (the man beneath the metal) and finally offer Revenant the sweet release of death once and for all, the fourth part of Apex Legends’ Kill Code storyline presents players with a shocking twist that really has to be seen to be believed.

Despite Loba’s best efforts, Duardo Silva (Octane’s dad and the series’ main antagonist for the last several seasons) is shown to finally offer Revenant more control over his body – revealing his grand scheme to the world – and offers the simulacrum an onslaught of upgrades that will make him even more feared than he once was. While Revenant has had a death wish for a little while, mainly due to the fact that he feels like he’s been losing control of his body and mind, the new lease of life these upgrades offer has given him something of a new perspective. That perspective, funnily enough, doesn’t actually involve Duardo Silva at all.

As you can see for yourself below, Duardo Silva’s plans to create an army of deadly simulacrum soldiers has backfired and Revenant – stabbing his entire arm through Silva’s chest – has finally taken full control of his body (and hundreds of other bodies). With the mysterious Duardo Silva now out of the picture, it’s pretty clear that playable character Revenant is going to be the game’s main antagonist for the foreseeable future – and that’s very exciting. He has an army of deadly synthetic bodies at his disposal and his rivalry with Loba has been reignited.

We don’t know, though, what this will mean when it comes to the lore of the Apex Games and the fact Revenant is a playable character. Respawn Entertainment isn’t going to remove him from the roster, it has been very clear that it aims to avoid that previously, but we should certainly see a lot more hostility between Revenant and his fellow legends (when it comes to voice lines and interactions in-game) moving forward. So, he’s going to be removed from the roster in a more symbolic way – a lone wolf among the characters available to play as.

Although, there’s really nothing to say that the Revenant we play as won’t be some sort of independent version of the character – detached from the dangerous ‘hive mind’. This could lead to some interesting exploration into Revenant as an independent simulacrum and see him wrestle with the hostile nature of the army of angry Revenants now seemingly hunting the other characters. Of course, though, that’s just speculation – as it stands, Revenant is very much evil again.

With the Apex Legends Season 20 release date on the way and recent Apex Legends leaks teasing another Collection Event beforehand, we’re sure we’ll find out more about what’s to come in the next few weeks. For now, though, all we know is that Revenant – the real Revenant, anyway – is back and stronger than ever. That, and the fact that Duardo Silva is dead – which creates quite a few more problems than it solves. This is one of the best FPS games out there in more ways than one and if you like your lore, the future is very bright indeed.
