Apex Legends’ latest animated short explains why Ballistic is back

The latest animated short for Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play FPS battle royale Apex Legends is here and details why Ballistic is back in the Apex Games.

Apex Legends Ballistic lore Stories From The Outlands: an image of Ballistic and Silva from the battle royale FPS short

Respawn Entertainment’s latest Stories From The Outlands short is here and it confirms that Ballistic is Apex Legends‘ Season 17 character – and that he was the Thunderdome Games’ first celebrity champion. If that isn’t Apex Games’ heritage, we don’t know what is. However, it also explains why he’s back in the fictional battle royale Apex Legends depicts – and it’s quite an interesting reason.

In the Stories From The Outlands short, which was preceeded on YouTube by an infomercial for a drug that uses Prowler Blood to seemingly fight muscle decay, Respawn Entertainment offered Apex Legends fans a quick background into August “Ballistic” Brinkman and where he is nowadays.

Interestingly, the leaks weren’t completely wrong – Ballistic’s son had just qualified for the Apex Games. However, Ballistic is shown to make a deal with Eduardo Silva to keep his son from actually participating – offering himself instead. This isn’t a deal done lightly, either. As you can see for yourself, Ballistic lives up to his name and makes it very clear to Silva that this isn’t a deal he should refuse.

As you can see, there’s a lot on the line for Ballistic; he has to perform if he wants to keep Eduardo Silva sweet and his son out of the Apex Games. However, we can’t help but wonder whether this deal really is going to stick – we have a funny feeling it isn’t going to.

If you want to know more about Apex Legends Season 17, subtitled Arsenal, you can expect to see a launch trailer on April 26. So, not long now. This should give us a better look at what Ballistic can do – and any other changes coming in the next set of Apex Legends patch notes.

Is Apex Legends one of the best games of all time? Okay, we know we’d have a tough time convincing you of that. However, it’s clearly one of the best battle royale games available now – and the hype around Season 17 and the new character we’ve just seen in the latest Stories From The Outlands trailer proves that.

If you want to know more, like how Apex Legends’ new Collection Event adds LTM akin to MW2 hardcore mode (or how Apex Legends’ Ballistic was accidentally confirmed as the Season 17 character earlier in the month), you can here. We don’t know about you, but he certainly sounds like someone that will help us climb the Apex Legends ranks – which is far from a bad thing.
