Please play Xbox Game Pass’ Hitman collection before it’s too late

January's lineup of new Xbox Game Pass games is excellent, but forget about those for now and enjoy Hitman World of Assassination before it leaves for good.

January is a great month for Xbox Game Pass, with the likes of ‘Pokemon-with-guns’ Palworld releasing day-one, Persona 3 Reloaded, and many more games being added for Xbox fans to enjoy. However, before you get caught up in all the new additions, you absolutely need to play the amazing Hitman: World of Assassination collection, because it is set to leave the service at the end of the month.

That’s right, you’ve only got a little time left to dive into the macabre and mechanically masterful assassination puzzle game before it leaves Xbox Game Pass on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Many would place Hitman: World of Assassination among the best Xbox games or even next to some of the best games on any platform due to how expertly it delivers on its assassination premise. Tasking you with infiltrating various compounds and taking down a target, you’ve got a whole suite of unique tools in your arsenal and situations to take advantage of, from poisoning drinks to bringing down machinery on your mark.

Hitman: World of Assassination is a collection of developer IO Interactive’s stellar work over recent years, seeing the content from Hitman 1 and 2 combined with Hitman 3, the latest and greatest entry in this reboot trilogy. In other words, you’ve got three great games to sink your teeth into, playable for free until it leaves at the end of January. With this in mind, you’ll need around 24 hours to complete all three games, though that’s only if you’re beating each level once. Given the multitude of different possibilities for murdering your mark, you could easily spend over 100 hours.

Therefore, make sure to take down your targets and complete your contracts (or fill out your Gamer Score) before it leaves. Thankfully, you can save up to 20% on Hitman: World of Assassination with your Game Pass subscription if you’d like to buy it outright to keep it in your library after it leaves the service.

The Hitman collection isn’t the only high-profile loss for Xbox Game Pass this month. Earlier in January, subscribers lost access to GTA 5 for what is now the second time (it also had a spell on the service in 2021). Despite the strong additions this month, losing two massive and amazing games like these shows the downside to subscription services. Garden Story, MotoGP 22, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 3 Portable have also departed Game Pass this month too.

While we’re eagerly awaiting a new Hitman game, there are plenty of new Xbox games coming out all the time, including Xbox exclusives that you don’t want to miss.
