Whipping around Rust in Modern Warfare 3 or knocking down structures in Fortnite is fun, but since it released in 2021, Chivalry 2 is always a blast to return to. The sequel to Torn Banner Studios’ beloved 2021 first-person slasher, Chivalry 2 is all about gory, no-nonsense battles where your prowess with a sword settles the score. Now, Xbox players with an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription can get a taste of this superb title too.
You really can’t knock Chivalry 2, at least on a content front, as Torn Banner Studios continues to support one of the best Xbox games around with meaningful updates. If you aren’t bothered about parting ways with extra cash to experience more of the best Xbox Game Pass games around through an Ultimate tier subscription, then don’t worry, because Chivlary 2 became available from December 6, 2023. Not only is the game currently putting on a free multiplayer weekend until December 11, but the last major update Reclamation is also live to experience.
That means your friends on PC can also join you for a few 64-player matches of pure ironclad carnage. Torn Banner Studios have also added in official server support too, so you don’t need to rely on official playlists to get your fix of medieval mayhem. You’ve heard about all the action, but if you’re not clear on what the aim of the game is, don’t worry. Chivalry 2 takes the action across several objective-based modes, which often see you claiming the land for your squad, eliminating the king, or simply laying waste to your enemies.
You’ll be doing it with multiple classes to experiment with, but we always find ourselves relying on the trusty Knight class. In total, there are 4 classes, with the other 3 consisting of Footman, Vanguard, and Archer. No matter where you go, you’ll always find a pesky Archer picking off people from the back of the battlefield, so be wary as you make large strides across the war-torn locales. Chivalry 2 has been a part of Xbox Game Pass for a while, but the transition to availability on a low tier is an excellent move to usher in more players.
Microsoft, who also announces that games like Far Cry 6 and Goat Simulator 3 are joining the new Xbox games available on the service, describe Chivalry 2 as an experience taking influence from “epic medieval movie battles. From clashing swords to storms of flaming arrows, to sprawling castle sieges and more. Charge into battle on horseback and claim glory with your blade.”
We’re still holding out hope for a possible Deadliest Warrior DLC like the first game, which added classes Pirates, Ninjas, and Spartan warriors into the first game.
