Xbox Free Play Days is back again, and this week there’s a real genre mix from the four games on offer. From now until Sunday, February 18, you’ll have the agonizing choice between Code Vein, Dead Island 2, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, and Warstride Challenges.

Weeby soulslike Code Vein remains one of 2019’s sleeper hits, and one of the year’s best soulslike games. Though it garnered mixed responses from critics, we particularly loved its incredible character customization capabilities and enjoyed experiencing its endearing narrative. From our experience, you’ll probably need to put 20+ hours into Code Vein. But if you don’t want to sacrifice your entire weekend to it then you can get it on sale for a whopping 85% off, down to just $8.99 until Sunday.

Next up we have Dambuster Studios’ Dead Island 2. The fiercely-anticipated sequel to one of the best horror games of the Xbox 360 generation once again had the critics in disagreement – it got a middle-of-the-road 7/10 in our own Dead Island 2 review.

With that said, if you’re looking for pure, feel-good zombie-mashing fun, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better alternative. Completing Dead Island 2’s main quest and side content will take a similar amount of time to Code Vein, so you’ll need to pick one or the other if you’re aiming for full clears throughout this free weekend.

If you’re missing Multiversus, we feel you. Fortunately, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is arguably as good, and you’ll be able to get your fighting game fix this weekend. A game you can dip in and out of, All-Star Brawl 2 is the perfect filler while you’re between Code Vein or Dead Island sessions.

Similarly, bullet hell Warstride Challenges won’t take you particularly long to clear the first time around – roughly three hours – but its fast-paced speedrunning elements will keep you coming back for more… and more… and more. It’s certainly the least familiar title of the lot, but it’s gone down a treat among critics and players alike.
