Xbox is treating players to an exceptional sale on some of the biggest and best games of recent years, from several great racing games and RPGs to an army of incredible indies. However, you’d be remiss to overlook Disco Elysium. Originally released in 2019, this critically acclaimed RPG was treated to a special re-release with Disco Elysium The Final Cut, adding even more content and even becoming fully-voiced, which is remarkably impressive. If you’ve never played it, you’re missing out, but now is the perfect time to change that thanks to Xbox slapping a massive 70% discount on it for its latest sale.
The Xbox New Year and holiday sale offers great prices on many of the best Xbox games on the platform, many of which are sparkly new Xbox games like Call of Duty MW3, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Mortal Kombat 1, and so much more. ZA/UM’s Disco Elysium, however, often regarded as one of the best games of all time, is one you really should pick up if you’re in the mood for one of the best RPG games on consoles.
From now until Tuesday, January 16, 2024, Xbox players can grab Disco Elysium The Final Cut for just $11.99/£10.04, down from $39.99/£33.49 – as mentioned, that’s a discount of 70%. Having won several awards in 2019 and 2020, including ‘Best Independent Game’, ‘Best Narrative’, ‘Best RPG’, and ‘Best Debut Indie Game’ at The Game Awards, as well as ‘Best Debut Game’ and ‘Best Narrative’ at the BAFTAs, Disco Elysium is well worth your attention. The Final Cut edition elevates this incredible package even further, adding gameplay improvements and new quests to experience.
With unforgettable characters, important choices, and deep role-playing possibilities in the grim world it presents, Disco Elysium is engrossing. As a rather washed-up detective, you can solve crimes, take bribes, and much more, becoming “a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being”, as the game’s description rightly puts it.
It is, however, an RPG in the truest sense. If you’re expecting action, then perhaps look elsewhere – there are many other RPGs in the Xbox sale that might be more your style. Disco Elysium is generally much slower-paced than other RPGs, involving lots of conversations with other characters and investigation over exhilarating combat; much of the fun comes from digging into the details and connecting the dots yourself. That’s not to say that it isn’t gripping though, with the quality of writing and quest design raising the bar and immersing you in its world.
So, while you wait for one of the best Xbox games of all time (and now one of the biggest Xbox bargains) to download, why not check out how Xbox Game Pass added 150 games worth $5,000 in 2023? While Disco Elysium unfortunately wasn’t among them, there’s plenty more to enjoy.
