Wonder Woman release date speculation, Nemesis system, more

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the Wonder Woman release date so you're prepared when this DC Universe superhero game finally arrives.

Wonder Woman release date: Wonder Woman swinging her lasso in Wonder Woman game reveal trailer

When is the Wonder Woman release date? The upcoming DC Universe game sees Monolith Productions leave Middle Earth for the DC version of Earth and Themyscira after the success of the Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War games, and we’re excited for this new version of Diana of Themyscira to arrive.

Will Wonder Woman be one of the best PS5 games and best Xbox games when it finally releases? It’s certainly possible, especially with many players still dropping into Monolith’s Middle Earth years after Shadow of War’s release. And that’s thanks to its incredible Nemesis system, which is also making its way into the Wonder Woman game. But when can you expect to finally play the upcoming title?

Wonder Woman release date speculation

The most likely release date for Wonder Woman is sometime in 2024, due to the fact that the game was revealed in 2021, and we haven’t heard much since, but there’s no reason to believe it’s behind in production. However, we expect to hear some new information soon.

The platforms that Wonder Woman will arrive on haven’t been revealed, but we’d make an educated guess for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, based on publisher Warner Bros. leaving past-gen consoles behind with Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League.

Wonder Woman story

While the exact details of the story for Wonder Woman are unknown, we know that it will “introduce an original story set in the DC Universe”, as announced during the reveal. This is even more likely considering James Gunn’s plans for the DC Universe to have Elseworlds, separate stories from his mainline narrative.

Wonder Woman also uses the Nemesis system, developer Monolith’s famous game mechanic. In its Middle-earth games, Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War, the Nemesis system would allow players to create personal stories, by having defeated enemies return for vengeance, and others occasionally joining Talion and then some betraying him later on. This sets a good stage for Wonder Woman to advance the Nemesis system further, while still creating those interesting stories for players to have.

Wonder Woman gameplay

The only thing we currently know about the Wonder Woman gameplay is that it is a single-player open-world adventure game, with Wonder Woman having to “unite the Amazon family and humans”.

The most interesting aspect is the aforementioned Nemesis system. While it will likely change a bit from the Middle-earth series to reflect the fact that Wonder Woman doesn’t usually kill unless she really needs to. Either that or the enemies in the game will be faceless creatures so that it won’t matter if you kill them. However, similar to Monolith’s last two games, we expect the Nemesis system to create some interesting rivals for you to deal with, for some very memorable moments.
