In one of the most exciting Valorant player transfers yet, former Cloud9 and Optic Gaming star Jaccob ‘yay’ Whiteaker has signed the dotted line for Valorant Challengers side Disguised – the organisation created by OfflineTV content creator Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang.
“I’m really thankful for Disguised Toast willing to take a chance on an upcoming player like myself”, the 2022 Esports Awards’ PC player of the year jokes in response to the announcement on Twitter. “I will hopefully make you all proud.”
Speaking to journalist George Geddes about what yay will bring to the table, Toast says “his leadership in terms of being someone who has been at the top before will help a lot. No one on our team has been to a T1 LAN yet […] yay is someone who played at the highest possible level, and it’s super helpful from a learning perspective for the other players on the team to see the way he thinks and the way he plays.”
Of course, signing one of the hottest properties in Valorant will bring with it expectations from fans around the world. However, when asked where he expects DSG to finish in the second Valorant Challengers NA split with yay onboard, Toast is quick to remove that weight from the player: “Ultimately, Valorant’s a five player game with a coach”, he says.
Prior to the official announcement, Disguised tweeted out that yay had signed for it as an April Fool’s joke. However, Toast’s personal involvement with yay, he reveals to Geddes, stems back to late February – days before his departure from C9 was confirmed – as yay had privately messaged him on Twitter complimenting DSG and the way it was looking to solve the issue of being a sustainable organisation in esports.
With El Diablo now back in competition, we can’t wait to see if he and DSG can dominate the Tier 2 Valorant ranks. If you’re a yay enjoyer, then be sure to grab his crosshair code from our best Valorant crosshair guide.
