As season one of The Dark Pictures Anthology comes to an end we can look forward to the second season of games thanks to a teaser that has been released for the next game. But, when can you expect The Dark Pictures Directive 2080’s release date?
As with the initial teaser for The Devil In Me, the details of this new game are quite light. But, there are some potential hints in the teaser trailer that could suggest where the story is heading.
The Dark Pictures Directive 2080 release date speculation
As of right now, The Dark Pictures Directive 2080 doesn’t have a release date. The teaser trailer at the end of The Devil In Me doesn’t list a date and just calls it the “season two premiere”. But, if we were to guess we reckon we could see the game in late 2023 or early 2024, about a year to a year and a half after the last one.
This is speculation though on our part. But, the gap between Little Hope, House of Ashes, and The Devil In Me was about a year between each one so it seems like SuperMassive Games has hit a steady cadence at this point.
The Dark Pictures Directive 2080 story
The teaser doesn’t offer up much in the way of actual story details but it does set the scene which will take the series to space in what appears to be a sci-fi monster story on a space station.
But, thanks to some sleuthing by some Reddit users, Directive 2080 is a real Nasa document, although it has now been updated and is now Directive 8700. This Directive relates to flight crew and space crew safety on missions and managing risks. And, if you have seen the trailer already you can already see how that ties in. Some other players also have theories that this will be a prequel or sequel to House of Ashes with the monster sounding quite similar, with either an evolved version of the creature or an early breed of the creature being trapped on this ship or station.

As with the other games in the series, we can expect all the improvements introduced so far in the series to be implemented here. But, when it comes to new additions we don’t have any idea just yet, or who will star in the game.
