Is Star Wars Jedi Survivor worth it? It’s the age-old question when it comes to games with a hefty price tag, and Star Wars Jedi Survivor is no different. With more games than ever releasing every month, each purchase you make has to become a difficult decision – especially at a time like this. We know we don’t speak for everyone, but for a lot of us, you simply can’t play everything or – importantly – afford everything. This is especially true when you consider the fact that current generation games cost as much as $70 or £70.
Jedi Fallen Order had its fair share of problems when it was first released in 2019, so you would be wise to approach Star Wars Jedi Survivor cautiously. So, are there any major issues with the game, is it a possible Game of the Year contender, and if there are any problems have they been fixed with patches? Find out below.
Is Star Wars Jedi Survivor worth it?
Overall, Star Wars Jedi Survivor is worth the asking price. Our Star Wars Jedi Survivor review highlights the great story, intense gameplay, and awesome set pieces Respawn delivers masterfully. The high review scores across media outlets on Metacritic, as well as the wealth of content offered in-game further justify the $70/£70 price point.
As mentioned, we gave the game a lot of praise, awarding it a strong nine out of ten on our scale – it is easily one of the best Star Wars games on Xbox and best Star Wars games on PS5. There’s a good chance it will make it onto many Game of the Year lists as well!
Other outlets feel the same, with a mid-80s score on Metacritic, The Guardian gave it five stars out of five and called it “the best Star Wars game in 20 years”. The group over at Easy Allies also loved the game like us. In their review, they say that the game is an excellent sequel that expands upon the strengths of its predecessor and introduces great new ideas.
However, you do have to be aware of performance issues with the game currently. While the console versions aren’t too bad, there are still issues that need to be ironed out. However, the PC version of the game is not in a good state with many players reporting issues, including critics like SkillUp.
These issues will most likely be fixed with patches over the coming weeks. But, if you are picking the game up on PC at launch you may want to hold off until late in May or June.
So, if it wasn’t clear, Jedi Survivor is definitely worth picking up. It is filled with content, more than the previous game by a large margin. It is also far more refined, and does an excellent job of really honing in on what makes the series so good, while improving aspects that felt poorer in Fallen Order.
While it might be a current-gen exclusive game and a hefty $70 to buy, you would be missing out on one of the best games of 2023 so far if you don’t play it right now. It will be a long time before the game hits EA Play and Game Pass too, so chances are some of the bigger story spoilers will seep their way onto your social media feeds or into your discussions if you don’t play sooner rather than later.
If you are planning to pick up the game, we have a ton of guides and tips to help you while you explore the many planets in the game. You can find all of them in our Star Wars Jedi Survivor walkthrough, which is broken down into information about the game, story quests, and side content.
