Just when you thought EA would stop making Star Wars games, the developer has come out and announced that a brand new Star Wars FPS is in development at first-person shooter aficionados, Respawn Entertainment.
The studio, which has produced two of the best FPS games of the last decade, Apex Legends and Titanfall, has brought together a new team that is led by Peter Hirschmann. Hirschmann previously worked as a executive producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games and also worked on the recent Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond VR FPS for Oculus platforms.
In a statement from the announcement Hirschmann said that “Working with Lucasfilm Games on a new FPS in the Star Wars galaxy is a dream come true for me, as this is a story I have always wanted to tell”. The announcement didn’t contain any details about the game, and it still sounds a while away.
Jeff Grubb from VentureBeat earlier in the month said that Respawn is currently working on a single-player FPS with a focus on “mobility and style”. While many thought this could be Titanfall, Grubb said that it isn’t. And, in a new article Grubb has confirmed that this Star Wars game is not the project he was referring to.

This announcement came alongside the announcement of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 and a new strategy game in the Star Wars universe. Rumours suggest we will hear about the former first, so a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 release date may be around the corner. Although, this FPS from the studio seems a little further off.
