Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 has now been officially confirmed as in development by Respawn Entertainment. This is according to an announcement on the EA website today, which details that the game is being directed by Stig Asmussen (who worked on the original), and that he and his team are already hard at work on the Fallen Order sequel.
There haven’t been any gameplay or story details yet, but Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order reviews landed to considerable favour when the game was released in 2019, so it isn’t too surprising to see the sequel revealed. Notably, the game won’t have Fallen Order in its name, corroborating what Jeff Grubb revealed earlier this month.
This isn’t the only new Star Wars title in the works, however, as it has also been confirmed that Respawn are also developing a new Star Wars FPS game and that they will also publish a strategy game, too. This comes as EA’s exclusivity rights to the Star Wars IP expire this year. Work has begun on all three of the announced Star Wars games, but Respawn is still looking for more folks to join the development teams, which means we’re likely quite a way off from finding out more information.
In a statement from the announcement, VP of Lucasfilm Games Douglas Reilly says: “We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn…hey have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”

The first game had an original story and Souls-like combat, so there’s little doubt that we’re in for a treat when the Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2 release date finally rolls around.
