We’re all excited about the Inklings’ return in Splatoon 3 because there’s nothing better than getting to the end of a Turf War match and seeing your team win the game by having painted that extra one percent of the map – booyah. But, we’re also excited for all the new features coming to the game too, like Splatoon 3 Tableturf Battle.

Seeing as it’s new, you might be wondering what Splatoon 3 Tableturf Battle actually is – you’re in luck. We’re here to explain all the details about the new content coming to Nintendo’s best series.

Below, you’ll find a detailed explanation of what Tableturf battle is and how it works, as well as where you have to go to play it.

Splatoon 3 Tableturf Battle explained

Splatoon 3’s Tableturf Battle mode is a new competitive card game introduced in the latest splat-tastic squid game. Tableturf battle asks players collect Splatoon-themed cards, build a deck, and battle other players in a card game that mimics Splatoon’s Turf War mode, where one team has to paint more of the level with ink than the other. Players will be given a rank that goes up and down based on performance like in real Turf War.

Each card in your deck lays down a different ink pattern that inks a particular number of spaces in the game board. Each player has 12 turns to ink as much space as possible with their cards, after which the winner is decided.

Special Attack cards are the only way to ink over your opponent’s spaces and must be played next to a Special Space on the board.

Tableturf Battle cards can be obtained from card packs, which can be bought from the catalogue, Shell-Out Machine, and other still-undisclosed places. There are over 150 cards to collect overall.

You can play Tableturf Battle by heading to the Tableturf Battle Dojo in the Splatsville main square. The Dojo is located in a back alley, so check your map to find out how to get there.
