When is the Remnant 2 release date? Remnant From The Ashes was one of the biggest surprises in 2019 as it blended combat, Dark Souls-level challenge, and a unique art style to create an experience that felt refreshing, yet familiar. But is that going to be the case with the sequel, and when are you going to be able to play it? We’ve got the answers right here.
The game looks to be significantly more ambitious than From the Ashes, offering better procedurally-generated environments and enemy models and some new gameplay features as well when playing solo or in Remnant 2 multiplayer. With how good it’s looking so far, it could be one of the best co-op games when it comes out.
Remnant 2 release date
The Remnant 2 release date is Tuesday, July 25, 2023, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at 9 am PT, 12 pm ET, 5 pm BST. The game is also playable right now for those who purchase the Ultimate Edition.
This announcement at Summer Game Fest 2023 gave us a more precise date after Embracer Group’s CEO Lars Wingfors confirmed the game was aiming for a summer 2023 release window during a talk on the Direkt Studios YouTube channel.
Remnant 2 story
In Remnant 2 you will plunge deeper into the horrifying, dilapidated world from the first game as you take on cunning enemies either alone or with friends.
The new overview trailer gives you a brief glimpse into what can be expected from the game and its world.
Remnant 2 gameplay
Summer Game Fest 2023 showcased brand new Remnant 2 gameplay, highlighting the intense action you can expect when it releases. This trailer in particular shows off co-op gameplay, with players teaming up to take down all manner of towering robots and grotesque monsters.
From our hands-on preview with Remnant 2 at GDC in March 2023, we also got a good feel for what gameplay would be like. While we could only play a short section, and were playing solo, the game’s improved gun play and movement mechanics were evident. The boss fight we were also treated to was also a great set piece.
Likewise, the environments are also much improved over the first game, with more varied locations that have a greater impact on the gameplay. For example, one sequence in a Remnant 2 trailer shows players jumping across train carriages, while another sees pillars coming out of the ground to create walls and vantage points on the fly.
A small glimpse of gameplay for the game can be seen below showing off some of the new bosses, enemies, and environments in the trailers. We also saw a lot more in a recent developer stream, which showed off almost two hours of the game, including the various Remnant 2 classes and their abilities:
And that covers what you can expect from the Remnant sequel ahead of the Remnant 2 release date. Be sure to keep an eye on more from Gunfire Games as we get closer to the game coming out on current-gen consoles and PC and possibly becoming one of the best PS5 games or best Xbox games on the platforms.
