Rainbow Six Siege crossplay: how to play with friends across platforms

Everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Siege crossplay for all platforms.

Rainbow Six Siege Victory

02/04/2024 PC and console crossplay is coming to Rainbow Six Siege in Year 9 Season 4. Currently, crossplay is only available between PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

After years of fans’ constant begging, Rainbow Six Siege crossplay was finally added at the tail end of 2022 and has seen several improvements since then. While Ubisoft has been wary of extending crossplay due to the advantages of mouse and keyboard over controllers, Year 9 Season 4 finally adds crossplay support between PC and console players too.

So, here’s everything you need to know about Rainbow Six Siege crossplay, including how to play with friends on other platforms.

Rainbow Six Siege crossplay

Rainbow Six Siege crossplay currently supports PC and Luna, and PlayStation and Xbox players as two separate buckets. This means that you can matchmake with other players and join friends so long as you’re either both on PC or both on console.

To play Rainbow Six Siege crossplay, you will need to link your Ubisoft account with your chosen platform. You will then gain access to your Ubisoft friends list and crossplay to allow you to play with players on other systems. You can check if crossplay is active by selecting the options menu and checking the notification at the bottom of the list.

In Rainbow Six Siege Year 9 Season 4, Ubisoft has announced that crossplay will be extended to support PC and consoles together for the first time. In this new system, PC and console team-ups will be placed against other PC players, ensuring that those on mouse and keyboard don’t have an advantage by joining console lobbies.

Can you disable Rainbow Six Siege Crossplay?

If you’re not a fan of playing with others on different platforms, you’ll be glad to know you can turn off Rainbow Six Siege crossplay via the in-game settings.

However, be warned – turning off crossplay usually means you’ll have increased matchmaking times, so if you’re sick of looking at the main menu while looking for a game, you might want to think twice about turning the feature off.

To turn crossplay off, all you have to do is head into the options menu, go to the general tab, and disable crossplay matchmaking.

Rainbow Six Siege cross-progression

In addition to crossplay, Rainbow Six Siege also has cross-progression. This means you can use the same inventory and carry your progress over to another platform free of charge. All you’ll need to do is link the same Ubisoft account to the relevant platforms you want to play on.

It’s worth noting though that your Rainbow Six Siege rank will not transfer over from another platform. If you’re Platinum on PC, you won’t be on console.
