A fresh cull is set to hit the PS Plus library, as PlayStation looks to trim the fat from its digital catalog. While we celebrated the addition of Red Dead Redemption 2 to the service this month, it’s come at a grave cost – GTA 5 is leaving PS Plus on June 18. Indeed, the Rockstar pendulum has swung, putting you on the clock if you’re yet to finish its more modern gun-toting hit on PS4 or PS5.
To be honest, the loss of GTA 5 isn’t that bad, even if it’s a bit of a low blow seeing as it only arrived on the service in December. After all, the game is so old now you’ve probably been living under a rock if you haven’t played it yet – that or, y’know, there have been other titles on the list of best games ever that have instead demanded your time. Regardless of the reasoning, now’s the time to get on it if you haven’t had the chance to acquaint yourself with Franklin, Michael, and, saving the best until last, Trevor – it would’ve been ‘Secret Agent’ Trevor, too, if Rockstar hadn’t canned his 007 DLC (grumbles).
Including GTA 5, 12 games will be kicked to the curb next month, including the deluxe edition of the rather excellent The Talos Principle – one of my absolute favorite puzzlers. Speaking of living under rocks, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated – a fabulous action platformer – is also being waved farewell. I’m getting krabby just thinking about its departure.
