When is Pokémon Scarlet and Violet coming out? That might be the question on your lips at the moment, especially as the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet release date creeps ever closer. But without E3 – the show that traditionally shares more information on the latest and greatest Pokémon games – many are left wondering when we’ll finally get some new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet news.
Well, hopefully soon. Although E3 isn’t happening this year, it’s likely Summer Game Fest or the next Nintendo Direct will share more news on what seems like the first true open world Pokémon game, following on from Pokémon Arceus. With new starters, a new region, and more opportunities to catch ’em all, Scarlet and Violet is already looking to be one of the best Pokémon games in years.
So, as we inch ever closer to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release date, here’s everything we know so far about the game, including when we can get our hands on it.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release date
Based on the latest trailer the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release date is set for November 18, 2022.
Both versions of the game will be available on Nintendo Switch on the day and pre-orders are now live.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet platforms
If you’re looking to get your mitts on Scarlet and Violet this year, you’ll need to own a Nintendo Switch. This is the only platform the game will be coming out on and it’s unlikely it’ll be ported elsewhere.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gameplay
The latest gameplay footage for Scarlet and Violet introduces us to a slew of important characters, a new addition to the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Paldea Pokédex in Krawf, and sends the player off on a treasure hunt.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailers
We’ve had a couple of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer so far – the first of which is the announcement one, which you can watch below.
The second trailer shows off luscious landscapes, with rolling hills, mountains, and a castle. There’s also new Pokémon, battle mechanics, and more. There’s plenty to explore apparently with lakes, forests, and cities all getting their share of the spotlight.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters
We already have details on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters. They’re your standard grass, fire, and water types, and picking one will kickstart your journey in this open-world game.
The three Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters are:
- Sprigatito
- Fuecoco
- Quaxly
Sprigatito is a grass cat Pokémon with the Overgrow ability, Fuecoco is a crocodile-inspired fire starter with the Blaze ability, and Quaxly is an adorable water duckling with the Torrent ability.
And although that’s all that’s been officially confirmed, there’s been a lot of talk of the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starters evolutions. A new rumour, posted on Twitter by The SV Guy, suggests the final form of Sprogatito is Florarince, Fuecoco’s is Cucapiente, and Quaxly’s is Cabospada.
These are apparently grass/fairy, fire/ghost, and water/dark types respectively, but given hardly anything has leaked so far about this game, we’d take these rumours with a pinch of salt.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Legendaries
The two legendaries for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have been revealed with Koraidon taking centre stage in Pokémon Scarlet and Miraidon leading the charge in Pokémon Violet.
Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Professors
Each of the games will have a different Professor with Professor Sada appearing in Scarlet and Professor Turo leading the way in Violet.
So there you have it, everything we know so far about the upcoming Pokémon games, including the rumoured Pokémon Scarlet and Violet release date. We’re still a little way away from the end of the year though, so fingers crossed we’ll get some more news in the near future.
