Winston can kill players with his butt in Overwatch 2

Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch 2 gives players plenty of creative ways to kill opponents, but we didn’t think we’d be saying Winston’s butt is one of them

Overwatch 2 Winston Butt emote kill: an image of Winston looking shocked

In Overwatch 2, the upcoming free-to-play hero shooter from Blizzard, there are quite a lot of ways for you to dispatch with your opponents – depending on who you’re playing as and what map you’re playing on. You can smash your enemies with Reinhardt’s hammer, obliterate them with D.Va’s self-destructing mech, or even use Lucio’s soundwave to knock them into a bottomless pit. However, did you also know that you can use Winston’s butt? Yeah, we’re not joking… You can squish your enemies with Winston’s cheeks.

Growing Overwatch content creator ‘McMagicMarv’ has found a way to use an emote while activating Winston’s Jump Pack ability – which, as you might already be aware, deals damage when he lands on an enemy. So, they have combined this with an emote where Winston sits down to take a break to create something truly remarkable – Winston butt kills in Overwatch 2.

Interestingly, this isn’t something McMagicMarv has just discovered – they have been doing this for some time in Overwatch. In a video titled ‘Funny Overwatch Emote Jump Tech’, McMagicMarv explains that this sensational exploit can technically be performed with Winston (after using Jump Pack), Junkrat (after using a Concussion Mine to jump), or Pharah (after using Jump Jet).

If you want to see what this looks like in action, you can check out the clip of McMagicMarv getting a Winston butt emote kill below:

From what we can tell, actually replicating this isn’t the hardest thing to do – provided you manage to jump accurately on your enemies. All you need to do is use an emote as soon as you have started to jump – using one of the aforementioned methods. It’s important to make sure that you have your emote menu keybinds set up, though, as this will make sure you can emote immediately after you trigger the jump.

From here, it’s smooth sailing… More or less, anyway. You’re still going to need to make sure you would normally land your jumps – while emoting, you won’t be able to manipulate your direction or distance. At the moment, it looks like this will only work with Winston, Junkrat and Pharah. However, who knows, McMagicMarv might find a way to replicate this sensation during a Reinhardt Charge or Sigma Gravitic Flux – another ability that involves involuntary movement.

After the recent discovery that Overwatch 2 is full of Kermit the Frog memes, thanks to Lucio, seeing someone get squished by Winston’s butt cheeks isn’t exactly surprising – but, it is hilarious. Overwatch 2 devs have also confirmed more “derangedly specific” hidden voice lines are in the sequel – so, maybe we’ll see one for killing with Winston’s butt pop up in the future.
