Overwatch 2 is on the way and Blizzard is doing things a little differently this time around. You could say this is a new era of the hero shooter’s lifetime – and we’re so here for it. With updates to Overwatch’s ranked mode, dubbed Competitive 2.0, coming and a full rework of the game’s core 6v6 format, things are going to be quite a bit different. But, that’s okay, the Overwatch 2 Season 1 roadmap is going to smooth the transition over with new heroes, maps, skins, and more.

Overwatch 2 season 1 roadmap start date
Following a deep-dive, Blizzard has confirmed that the Overwatch 2 Season 1 roadmap start date in October 4, 2022. This is when the official Overwatch 2 release date is scheduled, but players are going to have to wait a little longer for PvE content.
Overwatch 2 season 1 roadmap heroes
At the moment, Blizzard has confirmed that Sojourn, Kiriko, and Junker Queen will be arriving with Overwatch 2 Season 1. Sojourn and Junker Queen will be unlocked automatically and buying the premium battle pass will unlock Kiriko instantly, otherwise, she will be unlocked at rank 55 in the battle pass.
Overwatch 1 players will also get Kiriko for free right from the launch of the game thanks to the Watchpoint Pack.
Overwatch 2 season 1 roadmap maps
Overwatch 2’s launch, which coincides with the start of the Season 1 roadmap, will see a total of six new maps introduced to the existing map pool. These are:
- Toronto
- New York
- Rome
- Monte Carlo
- Portugal
- Rio
Players should expect to see significantly less maps going forward, with the Overwatch 2 Season 2 roadmap listing one additional map.
Overwatch 2 season 1 roadmap additional content
Adding to this, Overwatch 2 players can look forward to Push being added as a permanent new PvP mode – and there’s going to be over 30 new skins and a new Mythic-rarity skin coming (the first one we’re going to see) as a part of the battle pass.
Weekly challenges will be introduced earning you Overwatch Coins, and new bundles will be added to the store. A limited Time Event called Junkenstein’s Revenge: The Wrath of the Bride will also be a part of Season 1 running from October 25 to November 8.
Overwatch 2 Season 1 will also launch with a number of hero reworks and the new 5v5 format for PvP modes. With the fact that Overwatch 2 will be free-to-play, we should see better support for this hero shooter going forwards.
