After yesterday’s reveal of Michael Jordan on the NBA 2K23 cover, 2K has just announced its second edition of the game and who is starring on it. The WNBA Edition for this year’s game will put both Diana Taurasi from the Phoenix Mercury and Sue Bird from the Seattle Storm on the cover.
The two players, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird may appear on the NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition cover of the game, but both of their jerseys will also be available as bonus content with this version of the game.
During her time in the WNBA, which continues to this day, Taurasi has won five Olympic gold medals, become the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer, three-time WNBA champion, and two-time WNBA Finals MVP. Sue Bird has racked up another five Olympic gold medals, won four WNBA championships, become the WNBA’s all-time assists leader, and become a WNBA All-Star thirteen times.
“It really is an incredible feeling to see your hard work memorialized on the cover of a game like NBA 2K23,” said Taurasi in a press release. Bird also commented that “It’s amazing to see myself on the cover of a video game that has such a cultural impact,” in the same press release.
The WNBA Edition of the game is available exclusively in the United States and Canada at GameStop stores. Pricing and contents beyond Bird’s and Taurasi’s jerseys weren’t announced with the cover reveal. However, full details will be unveiled on July 7 when pre-orders go live.
One more cover star is left to be revealed and with reports saying Devin Booker is set to star on a cover, he may be the last athlete to grace the different editions of this year’s game.
