If you are planning to jump into the Monster Hunter series on consoles or PC, Monster Hunter Rise is a good place to start. But, will you be able to team up with your friends on other platforms and is Monster Hunter Rise crossplay?
Well, with the Monster Hunter Rise release date either passed for PC and Switch or close on PlayStation and Xbox it’s a good idea to figure out where your friends will be playing and what flexibility you have. Once you know, you can then begin preparing to team up and take down some monsters together using one of the game’s many different weapons.
Is Monster Hunter Rise crossplay and crossplatform?
Monster Hunter Rise does not feature crossplay between PC and Switch and will not feature crossplay between those platforms and PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One when those versions release. This will be disappointing to many who want to play with friends on different platforms.
Previously Capcom said they weren’t able to implement the feature after looking into it and that appears to still be the case with the PlayStation and Xbox launch of the game. So, you shouldn’t expect the feature to come to the game either. One upside though is that PS4 and PS5 players will be able to play together through cross-gen play.
However, there is more of a chance we will see crossplay and cross-save in the next mainline Monster Hunter title as Capcom has clearly heard fans’ desire for the feature. Although, when that game launches and if it is a sequel to Monster Hunter World or not is likely a few years away.
