With two Spider-Men at our disposal in Spider-Man 2, the amount of Spider-Man 2 suits is going to spoil us for choice. Insomniac Games isn’t stopping either when it comes to adding more suits, as new costumes are already in the works once the game arrives. Part of a new collaboration with fashion brand KidSuper, you can expect to see suits made from unexpected sources of inspiration, such as pop sensation Rina Sawayama.
Announcing the new project over on social media, KidSuper founder Colm Dillane says that “for the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game, Insomniac dropped some cool suits, and this got me thinking ‘what if I could design some suits that Peter and Miles could wear in-game?'” Well, that thought is becoming a reality, as Dillane reveals he is teaming up with Rina Sawayama, Formula 1 racer Lando Norris, and Real Madrid winger Vinícius Júnior.
Promising to bring “greater together to life” after the Spider-Man 2 release date arrives, Júnior hopes to see an addition to all the Spider-Man 2 suits that sports Brazilian colors. Conversely, Sawayama believes that “leather is always so sought after”, while Norris adds that he prefers “stealth” when it comes to designing a Spidey outfit. Further updates about the creative process are due to be revealed by SuperKid.
Aside from her successful music and modelling career, Sawayama can also be seen in John Wick Chapter 4, as an ally to Keanu Reeves’ legendary assassin. Her role features primarily in one of the movie’s slickest shootouts in the Osaka Continental Hotel, so definitely give it a watch.
Norris, a multi-time Autosport British Competition Driver of the Year winner, recently finished in third place at the Qatar Grand Prix. Vinícius Júnior, who scored the winning goal in Real Madrid’s 2022 UEFA Champions League final, recently returned to soccer after an injury. His return saw him claim his first Champions League goal of the current season, with a 1–1 equalizer in an away game against Napoli.
Previous Spider-Man suits have primarily focused on pulling from iconic comic runs, beloved fan favorites, or even the big screen with outfits depicting Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire’s suits. With 5 years having passed since the first Insomniac Games Spider-Man game arrived, many Marvel fans and PS5 owners are hoping it emerges as one of the best PS5 games that 2023 has to offer.
