One of the world’s biggest artists, Lil Nas X, will be writing and performing this year’s League of Legends Worlds anthem, Riot Games has announced. The iconic artist is probably the most high-profile figure from the world of music to collaborate with Riot to create original music.
The name for the 2022 LoL Worlds song has also been revealed: Star Walkin’. There’s no news of any supporting or feature artists, so it looks like it will be Lil Nas X carrying the track solo. The full song will be revealed on September 23, the week before LoL Worlds 2022 begins with the Play-In stage in Mexico City, but you can hear some brief snippets of it throughout the reveal video below.
Lil Nas X will also be performing Star Walkin’ live at the Chase Center in San Francisco for the LoL Worlds Final Opening Ceremony on November 5.
As well as working with Riot on this year’s LoL Worlds song, Lil Nas X will also be helping design a “first-of-its-kind” League of Legends skin – but it won’t be for an existing champion.
Nope, this prestige skin will be for upcoming League of Legends champion K’Sante, and it will be released on November 4, the day before the Worlds final. It’s not currently confirmed if this is also the release date for K’Sante as well, or if the champion will be added to the game earlier than that.
What’s more interesting is that this is not a paid-for cosmetic. Lil Nas X’s Prestige Empyrean K’Sante skin can be earned for free, simply by playing either League of Legends or Teamfight Tactics between November 4 and November 19. There will be a Worlds-themed live event, and all you have to do is earn 2,000 Worlds 2022 Coins (a new currency for the event) and you can exchange them for the skin.
