LoL patch 12.20 notes bring nerfs to Worlds 2022 power picks

The League of Legends patch 12.20 notes are here, and Worlds 2022 staples Aatrox and Maokai are being targeted for nerfs by Riot Games in its popular MOBA game

League of Legends patch 12.20 notes Worlds 2022 power picks: Aatrox

The League of Legends patch 12.20 notes have finally dropped, and developer Riot Games is looking to bring an end to the dominance of certain picks that are currently terrorising the Worlds 2022 meta as part of the upcoming update.

For those keeping up with the Worlds 2022 Pick’Em Crystal Ball Group Stage stats, Aatrox and Maokai currently share the top spot for most-picked champions at the tournament. In order to bring them back in line with the rest of League’s roster, Riot is reducing their passive healing by a solid chunk. Additionally, Maokai’s (R) Nature’s Grasp has had its cooldown increased at levels 11 and 16.

LoL patch 12.20 will also usher in further tweaks to Blitzcrank, who last patch received a suite of buffs to bring him closer to his original identity as a Fighter. This time around, Riot is nerfing his support power, while giving him a boost in the jungle. The result of this is Blitz’s base AD and attack speed are being decreased, his passive shield is being adjusted, his (W) Overdrive damage to monsters is being increased, and his (E) Power Fist damage to champions is being reduced.

As far as straight up buffs are concerned, Elise, Evelynn, Gwen, Jayce, Kennen, Rammus, Wukong, and Ziggs are all getting some love.

Meanwhile, on the item front, Demonic Embrace is being reoriented away from the tanks that have been using it far too effectively in recent months. On the flipside, Frozen Heart’s been seeing play as an early rush item for non-tank classes, so Riot’s upping the cost and defensive stats, at the cost of its damage reduction.

In order to diversify it further from Phantom Dancer, Mortal Reminder is getting an AD bump at the expense of a few extra gold and some of its attack speed. Finally, Sterak’s Gage’s bonus AD and Lifeline shield amount are both getting a straight up buff.

Oh, and some players will be pleased to know that the Lethal Tempo keystone’s bonus auto attack range is being dropped for ranged champions to match their melee counterparts. So bare that in mind next time you head out into the LoL ranks once the patch has dropped.
