The world of Hogwarts Legacy is full of incredible pieces of Harry Potter lore. It doesn’t matter where you are, be it Hogsmeade or the depths of Hogwarts itself, a new secret is around the corner. Now, passionate Harry Potter fans have found a touching tribute to the late Robbie Coltrane, who portrayed Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movies. The moving memorial isn’t far away either if you’re setting out to find it.
TikTok user ‘WhySoSirius‘ showcases the Robbie Coltrane tribute, which is a stone’s throw away from Hogwarts castle. Players will need to travel on foot or via broom to the Gamekeeper’s hut located near The Bell Tower Wing. Keep heading south toward the cliffside and Hagrid’s Hut will be waiting for you. Like the TikTok video, the user explains that Hogwarts Legacy players need to head to the back of Hagrid’s abode, where a gravestone can be observed overlooking the Black Lake views.
If you look closer you’ll be able to see a Hippogriff engraves into the gravestone, which is a reference to Hagrid’s companion Buckbeak. We’ve seen many trusty animal sidekicks in the Harry Potter franchise, but Buckbeak’s big-screen debut in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban remains a highlight for Potterheads across the world. Though the Robbie Coltrane easter egg doesn’t necessarily fit with the Hogwarts Legacy canon, it is a lovely nod to the beloved actor.

Whether there are other tributes to Robbie Coltrane and other Harry Potter franchise alumni remains to be seen. It would be great to unearth a tribute or two for the late Alan Rickman, who brought the Dark Arts professor Severus Snape to life across all of the movies. Hogwarts Legacy is bursting with a seemingly endless amount of lore tidbits, from the Chamber of Secrets to the Goblet of Fire itself.
A vital element of exploration in the game is collecting all the Hogwarts Legacy Field Pages. Not only is this a great way to learn about the world, but it provides players with an excuse to explore every nook and cranny of the map. Just be sure to upgrade your Hogwarts Legacy talents along the way, as you’ll undoubtedly face some pesky foes.
Hogwarts Legacy has drawn considerable criticism during its development, largely due to the fact that the creator of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has made a number of transphobic remarks on social media in recent years.
While Avalanche has confirmed that J.K. Rowling is not “directly involved” in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, it is working with “her team” and Portkey Games, a Warner Bros. label dedicated to launching new experiences inspired by J.K. Rowling’s original stories. It is currently unclear whether she will earn any royalties from the game’s sale, but it is likely given it is based on her original body of work.
