Does Gran Turismo 7 feature crossplay? Originally set to be a PS5-only release, the publisher is now having to release the latest entry in its racing series on PS4 as well as PS5 due to the ongoing supply issues plaguing Sony’s new console.
Taking those supply issues into account, players are going to be split across PS5 and PS4, meaning that traditionally they wouldn’t automatically be able to race alongside one another or against each other. However, Sony has made an effort to try to accommodate crossplay where it is wanted for both first-party PlayStation Studios games and most third-party multiplayer games as well.
And, for those who are holding out hope for crossplay in Gran Turismo 7, we have some good news from the game’s creative director, Kazunori Yamauchi, himself. Read on for the full details from Polyphony Digital so far on Gran Turismo 7 crossplay.
Gran Turismo 7 Crossplay
Gran Turismo 7 does feature full crossplay between PS5 and PS4 players.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Kazunori Yamauchi said “yes!” when asked if PS5 and PS4 players will be able to play with one another. As both games are a part of the PlayStation Network, you won’t need any extra accounts to be able to do this either.
On top of that, elsewhere between the two versions, both PS5 and PS4 players will have access to the exact same features in the game. The only difference is that everything on PS5 will look better.
So, there you have it – Gran Turismo 7 crossplay is confirmed and you can thrash your friends in races across tracks from around the world. For more on some great multiplayer experiences on PS5, check out our list of the best PS5 multiplayer games on the system.
