When is the Gothic remake release date? We’ve seen a lot of remasters and remakes get released over the past few years. We’ve also seen a lot of good RPGs drop, like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Greedfall. More role-playing goodness is on the way with the Gothic Remake, a remake of the classic 2001 hit RPG. With that said, the Gothic remake release date is looming large on the horizon.
Gamers who remember the original Gothic will know why this is a big deal, but those who never played it the first time around are going to be in for a treat with all the upgrades and changes coming to the fantasy game as well, especially if you like your stories a bit on the darker side. It is called Gothic after all.
Gothic Remake release date speculation
The Gothic Remake is simply listed as “coming soon” on the game’s Steam store page, but we speculate that it will be released in 2024.
That’s based on the limited gameplay that we’ve seen and the few details to emerge from the developers, which leads us to think we will get a release date announcement next year. The game is coming to PC. Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5.
Gothic Remake Platforms
The Gothic Remake is set to release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will not be released on last-generation consoles.
The game is one of THQ Nordic’s biggest upcoming games and will likely require a lot of hardware power to pull off the enhanced graphics and gameplay changes.
Gothic Remake story
In dire need of magical ore to make powerful weapons with, King Rhobar II has all available prisoners gather it from the Khorinis mines. To prevent the prisoners’ escape, the king has his magicians create a magical barrier.
Something goes wrong with the barrier and it turns the mines into territory controlled by violent thugs. He is forced to negotiate with the prisoners as they splinter into factions within the mines. Unbeknownst to anyone, you are one of those prisoners.
Gothic Remake updates and changes
One of the major upgrades for the Gothic Remake is a modernized combat system that revamps the game’s original combat. Alongside this, the game is getting gorgeous next-gen graphics too.
However, THQ Nordic is clear that the game will be a “faithful” remake of the original, according to the Steam store page.
We got a look at the game during the THQ Nordic Showcase in August 2022, which showed off some of the environments. But, as we still haven’t seen more detailed gameplay, it is likely still a while away.
Gothic remake gameplay
We got a brief teaser of gameplay during the THQ Nordic Showcase in August 2023. We saw a scene from the game which shows off a bustling village outside a castle before the main character finds himself in a predicament.
This was more of a tease than a gameplay demo as we never actually saw beyond this scripted scene. But it is definitely shaping up well!
