So, is Batman alive in Gotham Knights? That is the question everyone has been asking since the game was revealed. With Batman gone, Red Hood, Robin, Batgirl, and Nightwing pick up the mantle of protecting Gotham in Gotham Knights. But, with Bruce Wayne being such a central character to the city of Gotham, does WB Games Montreal manage to hold their nerve and not bring him back? Well, below, you can find out the fate of Bruce in the game. But, be warned there are major story warnings for both the beginning and end of the game. So, if you don’t want to be spoiled, come back later.
Is Batman alive in Gotham Knights?
Spoiler warning! Batman is really dead in Gotham Knights as he loses his life while fighting Ra’s Al Ghul in the opening scene of the game. But, he is resurrected by the League of Shadows’ Lazarus Pit in the final mission of the game without his free will. The goal is for Batman to help Talia lead the league to overthrow and run Gotham.
However, during that same mission, Bruce sacrifices himself to destroy the Lazarus Pit, ending the Court of Owls and League for good. We then see a scene from before the game when visiting the Belfry of the Bat family getting along and being nice to one another, and Bruce there by their side.
So, yes while WB Games Montreal couldn’t keep their hands off the idea of bringing Batman back from the dead, he does end up handing the mantle of being Gotham’s protector, over to the main four characters of Gotham Knights.
