Adept at increasing the damage of main DPS and sub-DPS characters alike, the Genshin Impact Deathmatch polearm is one of the best weapons in the game, despite being a four-star weapon.

While the Genshin Impact Deathmatch is not acquired through the Gacha Wishing system, there are several incredibly powerful four-star and five-star weapons that you’ll want to get your hands on. Be sure to check out the current Genshin Impact banners and the next Genshin Impact banners so you know what weapons and characters you can get next. Genshin Impact Deathmatch explained

The Genshin Impact Deathmatch four-star polearm is an excellent weapon for both main and sub-DPS characters like Xiao, Xiangling, and Raiden Shogun.

While the weapon is often better suited to main DPS characters like Xiao and Raiden, Deathmatch is also suitable for sub-DPS characters that make use of off-field damage, such as Xiangling and Zhongli. Since their skills deal damage for a period of time while off-field, the Deathmatch stats and buff will be active even when they are not the active character.

How to get Deathmatch in Genshin Impact

To get the Genshin Impact Deathmatch polearm, you will need to purchase the Gnostic Hymn Battle Pass and reach Battle Pass level 30 to choose your Bounty weapon.

It’s no doubt unfortunate that the Deathmatch can only be acquired by spending money, but unlike the Gacha system which is based on luck, you are guaranteed to get a weapon of your choosing with each Pass. Not only does this make the Deathmatch simple to get, but you can also refine it easily too if you choose to purchase multiple Battle Passes.

Genshin Impact Deathmatch stats and skill

The Genshin Impact Deathmatch provides a bonus to ATK and DEF if there are at least two enemies nearby. This buff will increase if there are less than two enemies nearby. Additionally, the Deathmatch also has a Crit Rate sub-stat, which is ideal for most DPS characters.

Here are the Deathmatch stat and skill scaling for each refinement level:

Refinement Skill – Gladiator
R1 If there are at least two enemies nearby, ATK and DEF are increased by 16%. If there are less than two enemies nearby, ATK is increased by 24%.
R2 If there are at least two enemies nearby, ATK and DEF are increased by 20%. If there are less than two enemies nearby, ATK is increased by 30%.
R3 If there are at least two enemies nearby, ATK and DEF are increased by 24%. If there are less than two enemies nearby, ATK is increased by 36%.
R4 If there are at least two enemies nearby, ATK and DEF are increased by 28%. If there are less than two enemies nearby, ATK is increased by 42%.
R5 If there are at least two enemies nearby, ATK and DEF are increased by 32%. If there are less than two enemies nearby, ATK is increased by 48%.

Once fully refined, the Deathmatch is capable of boosting damage significantly, making it an extremely potent weapon choice for many main DPS characters and even sub-DPS characters. While the DEF increase is not the star of the show, it can’t ever hurt to have extra DEF.

Best characters to use with Genshin Impact’s Deathmatch

Here are the best characters to use the Deathmatch in Genshin Impact:

  • Xiao
  • Zhongli
  • Raiden Shogun
  • Hu Tao
  • Cyno
  • Shenhe
  • Xiangling
  • Rosaria
  • Yun Jin
  • Candace
  • Yaoyao

The Deathmatch is a versatile weapon, especially for a four-star polearm. You can use it with just about any DPS polearm user given the right build. While the Deathmatch may often be overshadowed by The Catch, it’s a reliable and powerful weapon that’s worth getting your hands on if you can.

Remember that Deathmatch is a DPS weapon, so characters such as Yaoyao which are often built as support will not be good picks unless you build them for DPS instead.

And that’s everything you need to know about the Genshin Impact Deathmatch, including how to get Deathmatch, its stats and skills, best characters to use, and the Ascension materials required to level it up.
