Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build, artifacts, and more

The best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build makes her into an unstoppable Electro damage dealer and support character for almost any team

Genshin Impact’s Raiden is one of the best five-star characters in Genshin Impact, in part due to her excellent Electro damage potential and Energy Recharge buff. However, you’ll need a great Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build to get the most out of the powerful Electro Archon of Inazuma.

Alongside Raiden Shogun in the Genshin Impact 3.3 banners are several other powerful characters you’ll want to get your hands on if you’ve got the Primogems to spare, including the stylish Kamisato Ayato. Both are high ranking characters in our Genshin Impact tier list of best characters. Throughout this guide, you’ll learn the best artifact sets for Raiden Shogun, as well as her stat and talent priorities, alongside her best weapons and ideal team compositions.

Raiden Shogun build overview

To give a brief overview of the best Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build, here is what you’re going to want:

  • Artifacts: Emblem of Severed Fate four-piece set
  • Stat priority: Crit Rate/Damage, Energy Recharge, and ATK%
  • Talent priority: Elemental Burst, then Elemental Skill, and then Normal Attack
  • Weapon: Engulfing Lightning

If you’re wanting a Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom build, then use the Flower of Paradise Lost artifact set and the Dragon’s Bane spear. As for stat priority, go all out on Elemental Mastery. Talent priority remains largely the same, though Raiden’s Elemental Skill will now be the most important ability.

Below you’ll find our full breakdown of each recommendation, as well as example team comps you should absolutely slot Raiden Shogun into.

Raiden Shogun build artifacts

Raiden Shogun’s best artifact is Emblem of Severed Fate, available in the Momiji-Dyed Court in Inazuma. Emblem of Severed Fate is far and away the best artifact for a Raiden build in Genshin Impact, providing boosts to Energy Recharge and Elemental Burst damage. This is great for Raiden Shogun as you will want to increase her Energy Recharge to around +200-250% so she can use her Elemental Burst regularly, therefore increasing her main stat and the damage of this already powerful ability.

Artifact Effect
Genshin Impact Emblem of Severed FateEmblem of Severed Fate

Two-piece set: Energy Recharge +20%.

Four-piece set: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.

Genshin Impact Emblem of Severed FateEmblem of Severed Fate

Genshin Impact Thundering Fury artifactThundering Fury

Two-piece set: Energy Recharge +20%.

Two-piece set: Electro DMG bonus.

Genshini Impact Flower of Paradise Lost Artifact

Flower of Paradise Lost

Two-piece set: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

Four-piece set: The equipping character’s Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction DMG are increased by 40%. Additionally, after the equipping character triggers Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, they will gain another 25% bonus to the effect mentioned prior. Each stack of this lasts 10 seconds. Maximum four stacks simultaneously. This effect can only be triggered once per second. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.

Genshin Impact Gilded Dreams Artifact

Gilded Dreams

Two-piece: Increases Elemental Mastery by 80.

Four-piece: Within eight seconds of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and Elemental Mastery is increased by 50 for every member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the buffs will count up to three characters. This effect can be triggered once every eight seconds and even when not on the field.

Raiden Shogun is a five-star Electro polearm-user adept in on-field Electro damage through her devastating Elemental Burst and imbued Electro attacks. She specialises in providing Energy to her team through her own Burst, which then builds Resolve Stacks to further empower her next Elemental Burst.

While Emblem of Severed Fate is Raiden’s best artifact set, there is another option if you don’t have a full four-piece Emblem set. Combining the two-piece bonuses of Emblem of Severed Fate and Thundering Fury can also work, providing a boost to Energy Recharge and Electro DMG. However, this does not beat the four-piece set of Emblem of Severed Fate, so focus on getting that.

Additionally, for a Raiden Hyperbloom team, now one of her best team compositions, the Flower of Paradise Lost set is the best. This set boosts both her Elemental Mastery and the damage of her Hyperbloom reactions, making it a deadly artifact set. Alternatively, the Gilded Dreams set also works well for Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom builds. Do note that these two sets will only work for a Hyperbloom build, and not a traditional main DPS Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun build that you may be familiar with.

Raiden Shogun build stat priority

Raiden Shogun’s stat priority is Energy Recharge, Crit Rate/Damage, and ATK%. Raiden scales on her Energy Recharge and her Elemental Burst is her main source of damage and utility. Therefore, increasing her Energy Recharge is vital. However, once you reach between +200% and +250% Energy Recharge, your focus should be improving her Crit Rate/Damage and ATK%.

Slot Main Stat Sub Stat
Flower HP Energy Recharge > Crit Rate/Damage > ATK%
Feather ATK Energy Recharge > Crit Rate/Damage > ATK%
Sands Energy Recharge % Energy Recharge > Crit Rate/Damage > Elemental Mastery
Goblet Electro DMG Bonus Energy Recharge > Crit Rate/Damage > ATK%
Circlet Crit Rate/Damage Energy Recharge > Crit Rate/Damage > ATK%

Once you have reached between +200% and +250% Energy Recharge, focus on improving her Crit Rate/Damage stat and then ATK%. Increasing her Energy Recharge past this value leads to diminishing returns, meaning these other stats should take priority.

For a Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom build, you want to focus solely on increasing for Elemental Mastery as this will improve the damage of her Hyperbloom reactions.

Raiden Shogun build talent priority

Raiden Shogun’s talent priority is Elemental Burst, Elemental Skill, followed by Normal Attack.

The majority of Raiden Shogun’s damage and supportive power comes from her Elemental Burst. You’ll begin a rotation by using her Elemental Skill, before swapping to other characters to build Resolve Stacks by using their Elemental Bursts. Once you have sufficient Resolve Stacks, you’ll then use Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Burst and spam her Normal Attack until it expires. Levelling her Elemental Burst as much as possible will enable this rotation to deal massive Electro damage and assist in sustaining the rotation.

For a Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom build, the talent priority is largely the same, though her Elemental Skill will now be the most important ability.

Raiden Shogun build weapons

Raiden Shogun’s best weapon is Engulfing Lightning. Raiden’s signature weapon is without a doubt her best-in-slot weapon since it offers a boost to Energy Recharge (Raiden Shogun’s main stat) while also increasing her ATK based on her Energy Recharge and granting increased Energy Recharge after using her Elemental Burst. This weapon massively increases her damage through improving her Energy Recharge and ATK greatly.

Weapon Effect

Genshin Impact The Catch spearThe Catch

Genshin Impact Primordial Jade-Winged Spear weaponPrimordial Jade-Winged Spear

Eagle Spear of Justice

On hit, increases ATK by 3.2% for six seconds. Max seven stacks. This effect can only occur once every 0.3 seconds. While in the possession of the maximum possible stacks, DMG dealt is increased by 12%.

Genshin Impact Skyward Spine spearSkyward Spine

Black Wing

Increases Crit Rate by 8% and increases Normal Attack speed by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attack hits on opponents have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% of ATK as DMG in a small AoE. This effect can occur no more than once every two seconds.

Genshin Impact Dragon's Bane spear

Dragon’s Bane

Bane of Flame and Water

Increases DMG against enemies affected by Hydro or Pyro by 20%.

While Engulfing Lightning is by far Raiden Shoguns’s best weapon, there are several other weapons that work well if you have access to them.

The Catch is the best free-to-play option, being acquired through fishing. The Catch provides a valuable increase to Energy Recharge though its sub-stat and the unique effect significantly increases Elemental Burst damage output. This further increases Raiden Shogun’s effectiveness without requiring any special conditions be met or any changes to gameplay style.

While Staff of Homa is a great option, it can be difficult to get the full effect from, particularly if you are new to Genshin Impact or Raiden Shogun. Nevertheless, it is a very powerful weapon in the hands of Raiden.

Likewise, Primordial Jade-Winged Spear and Skyward Spine also provide good bonuses to Raiden Shogun’s damage, although they carry more conditions than Engulfing Lightning and The Catch.

Alternatively, if you’re using a Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom build, then the Dragon’s Bane four-star spear is her best option. The Dragon’s Bane is used mainly since it provides bonuses to Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Mastery as an additional stat.

Raiden Shogun build team comps

There are several Raiden Shogun team comps that you can create, with Raiden operating predominantly as the on-field DPS and Energy Recharge Support. Raiden Shogun works well in almost any team, making her a very good option for free-to-play players. With the introduction of Dendro and the associated reactions, Raiden Shogun also excels in Hyperbloom teams.

Character Role
Raiden Shogun Main on-field DPS
Kujou Sara/Fischl/Yae Miko/Kuki Shinobu

Sub-DPS

Kujou Sara is the best Electro Support and sub-DPS for Raiden Shogun as she will boost Electro DMG and help with Energy Recharge. However, Fischl, Yae Miko, and Kuki Shinobu are also strong substitutes as they deal significant damage by themselves and create Electro Particles to help regenerate Electro Elemental Bursts.

Bennett

Support

Bennett is one of the strongest Supports in the game, providing a cheap and easy to use Elemental Burst that both heals and increases damage output.

Kazuha/Sucrose  Flex

Kazuha is a great fourth pick as he can cause Swirl with Electro, which when paired with Viridescent Venerer, will increase Swirl DMG and decrease the opponent’s Elemental Resistance to the infused Element. In this build, that will be Electro. Sucrose is a powerful four-star substitute to Kazuha.

This team is perhaps Raiden Shogun’s most powerful team. Electro DMG will be increased via Kujou Sara and Bennett’s Elemental Burst, while Kazuha or Sucrose using Viridescent Venerer will reduce enemy resistances to Electro. All in all, Raiden Shogun will be dishing out empowered Electro Attacks and her incredibly strong Elemental Burst left, right, and centre with this team composition, thanks to three other characters that complement her kit well.

Character Role
Raiden Shogun Main on-field DPS
Xingqiu

Sub-DPS

Xingqiu is an excellent off-field Hydro sub-DPS thanks to his Elemental Burst, while his Elemental Skill will help with protection and healing.

Xiangling

Sub-DPS

Xiangling is also among the best sub-DPS characters, excelling at off-field Pyro DMG though her Elemental Burst and Elemental Skill.

Bennett

Support

Bennett features once again as one of the strongest Supports in the game, providing a cheap and easy to use Elemental Burst that both heals and increases damage output.

The ‘National Team’ is one Genshin Impact team composition that will simply never die; it’s easy to build, easy to use, and incredibly powerful. Xingqiu and Xiangling are powerful off-field sub-DPS characters that will constantly apply their respective Hydro and Pyro elements, synergising well with Raiden Shogun’s empowered Electro attacks. Meanwhile, Bennett will be able to regularly use his Elemental Burst to provide healing and a significant damage boost.

Character Role
Raiden Shogun Main on-field DPS
Kujou Sara/Fischl/Yae Miko

Kujou Sara/Fischl/Yae Miko

Sub-DPS

This slot can be filled by either of the remaining characters from slot two. They will provide off-field Electro DMG and Electro Particles for regenerating Electro Elemental Bursts.

Jean

Support

Jean will cause Swirl with Electro, which when paired with Viridescent Venerer, will increase Swirl DMG and decrease the opponent’s Elemental Resistance to the infused Element. In this build, that will be Electro. Jean’s Elemental Burst also provides substantial healing and consistent Anemo Swirls.

This Mono Electro Raiden Shogun team composition emphasises reducing the opponent’s Electro Resistance to deal consistent Electro DMG. Given that three party members are Electro, there will be plenty of Electro Particles to go around, meaning Elemental Bursts can be used regularly, perfect for a Raiden Shogun build. Not only will Jean increase the effectiveness of the Electro characters, but she will also act as the team’s healer. Simply stand in her Elemental Burst effect to stay healed and deal heavy Electro DMG.

Character Role
Raiden Shogun

Hyperbloom Driver

Make sure to build Raiden Shogun following a Hyperbloom build, emphasising Elemental Mastery with the Flower of Paradise Lost or Gilded Dreams artifact set, and the Dragon’s Bane weapon to increase the damage of her Hyperbloom reactions.

Nahida/Dendro Traveler

Dendro Applicator/Sub-DPS

Nahida is an excellent Dendro applicator and sub-DPS character, improving the power of the team against large groups and allow frequent Hyperbloom reactions to trigger due to her Dendro application. As a F2P alternative, the Dendro Traveler is also a good choice due to their strong Elemental Skill and Burst in applying Dendro.

Xingqiu/Yelan

Hydro Applicator/Sub-DPS

Xingqiu and Yelan can both fill the role of a Hydro applicator and sub-DPS character extremely well through their Elemental Skills and Bursts.

Kokomi/Barbara

Hydro Applicator/Support

Kokomi is the premier pick for an off-field Hydro applicator thanks to her Elemental Skill. Furthermore, she’ll also provide excellent healing to keep the team alive. Barbara is the F2P alternative.

Thanks to the addition of Dendro, Raiden Shogun can now also excel in a Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun Hyperbloom build. The most important thing to remember is to build Raiden Shogun following a Hyperbloom build. This means emphasising Elemental Mastery with the Flower of Paradise Lost or Gilded Dreams artifact set, and the Dragon’s Bane weapon to increase the damage of her Hyperbloom reactions.

Apply Hydro to enemies using Kokomi’s Elemental Skill, and Xinqiu/Yelan’s Burst and Skill to prime the enemies for a follow-up attack from Nahida or the Dendro Traveler. Once Dendro is applied, a Dendro Core will spawn which can then be triggered using Raiden Shogun’s Elemental Skill off-field to create a Hyperbloom tracking missile that will deal massive damage.

And that’s the best Raiden Shogun build Genshin Impact can offer right now. As always, we’ll be sure to keep this guide updated as new builds and compositions arise. In the meantime, check out a powerful Genshin Impact Ayato build, the other five-star character accompanying Raiden Shogun in the 3.3 banners.
