Yoda and Dr. Zoidberg are breaking Fortnite, literally

The new Fortnite Yoda back bling can be a powerful force to crash your game when combined with Futurama's Dr. Zoidberg on PS5 and Xbox.

Anything can happen in Fortnite when it comes to crossovers – I literally just got Alan Wake and Billie Eilish jamming together in Fortnite Festival. However, Epic Games is currently facing issues with its new Fortnite Yoda back bling. When combined with Futurama’s Dr. Zoidberg, this potent combo can crash your game instantly on PS5 and Xbox in what is one of the weirdest videogame bugs I’ve seen in ages.

Yoda is one of the most powerful Jedis in Star Wars lore, and that power is carrying over into Fortnite. Despite not being available as a playable character, Yoda can perch on your back, making a fuss over everything you do in Epic Games’ battle royale game. However, PS5 and Xbox players have discovered that the hit multiplayer game will instantly crash when the Futurama-themed Zoidberg Scuttle emote is activated while wearing your Yoda back bling.

Prolific Fortnite leaker ‘iFireMonkey’ notes on social media that “this is due to Yoda’s face bugging out with the emote. There are also reports that this will crash people in your squad’s games as well.” In my experience with this bug, a member of my party combined the back bling and emote just as our Fortnite Festival set was about to begin, rendering the game completely useless. Not only did the game severely crash, but it was so serious that an error report prompt appeared on my PlayStation 5.

If you value your friendships, I beg you, don’t do this. To stop any other party poopers looking to use this bug for fun, Epic Games is now taking action to rectify the issue. At the time of writing, the Yoda back bling is currently disabled in-game, and cannot be equipped. Players may still purchase it from the item shop for 1,000 V-Bucks, however. It is likely that the problem will be resolved in the next few days, so don’t worry if you’re eager for Yoda to accompany you on your next drop onto the island.

The Yoda back bling is part of the recent Star Wars drop, which arrived to celebrate Star Wars day on May 4, 2024. There’s an absolute ton of content to sift through, making it one of the best games out there right now if you love all things Jedi and Sith. New additions include fresh Rocket Racing cosmetics, the return of Lightsaber and Blaster Mythic weapons, and even the Cantina Band music in Fortnite Festival.
