Like the rest of EA’s sports titles that used the Dual Entitlement program, FIFA 22 offered PS4 players the chance to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. However, this was a confusing mess back when it launched, let alone all these years later – especially as this entry worked a little differently from FIFA 21.
FIFA 21 offered players a free upgrade through EA‘s Dual Entitlement program, which allowed players on PS4 to get the game on PS5 until the release of FIFA 22. But, despite a host of enticing features like a refresh of FIFA 22 Division Rivals and the next-gen only FIFA 22 HyperMotion feature, you didn’t get the same Dual Entitlement offer unless you purchased some specific editions of the game. So, here’s everything you need to know about the Dual Entitlement process, including how to get the FIFA 22 PS4 to PS5 upgrade.
FIFA 22 PS4 to PS5 upgrade
FIFA 22’s PS4 to PS5 upgrade was only available for those who bought the Ultimate Edition of the game digitally.
Therefore, if you purchased the standard edition on PS4 or PS5 physically or digitally, you did not get access to the Dual Entitlement bonus which gave you a free PS4 to PS5 upgrade. This also applies to players on Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. Unfortunately, this is still true today, so unless you forked out for the most expensive edition for the free upgrade, you would have to repurchase the PS5 version.
While this might be bad news for some, this explains the FIFA 22 PS4 to PS5 upgrade process this year.
