For fans of the world’s fastest motorsport and players who enjoy the challenge of a complex management sim, F1 Manager 2022 is going to tick a lot of boxes. However, it’s not going to tick all the boxes. There’s been a lot of speculation on whether F1 Manager 2022 will have online multiplayer and the developer has once-again confirmed that F1 Manager 2022 will be missing this major feature – and we don’t think it’s coming in the future either.
In response to an eager fan on Twitter, the official F1 Manager 2022 Twitter account responded to the question “will there be a multiplayer side to the game” with the following confirmation on whether players will be able to race against one another – or simulate races against one another – in F1 Manager 2022.
” We’ve confirmed that F1 Manager 2022 is a single player experience only.” For fans of other sports-focused management sims, like Sports Interactive’s Football Manager series, this will come as something of a surprising shame. However, it isn’t as unsurprising as you might think when it comes to F1 Manager 2022.
F1 Manager 2022 and games in the Football Manager series may both share the same emphasis on research, development, and strategy before you get to the main event (whether that be a football match or a Grand Prix), there’s so much about F1 Manager 2022 that mean it makes perfect sense that it’s a single-player only title.
Hello! We've confirmed that F1 Manager 2022 is a single player experience only, and yes, it's available to pre-order now on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 💛

With the F1 Manager 2022 devs “surprised” that players are watching races in real time, despite there being an option to fast-forward through the action, it makes sense that a two-hour odd online game would be considered a little long. In addition to this, the preparation and set-up that goes into preparing for a Grand Prix during a race weekend would take far longer than it would for one player to adequately prepare for a fixture in Football Manager.
On top of all this, you can’t create your own team in F1 Manager 2022 and due to development progress, budgets, and the raw skill of drivers, some F1 teams are just at a disadvantage – no matter what. This would make online matchmaking somewhat unfair for those players in charge of teams like Williams, Alfa Romeo, and Aston Martin.
Of course, players will be able to improve their chosen team in F1 Manager 2022 – it will just take time. This game is going to be so realistic that taking Williams to a Constructor’s Championship could take you quite a few in-game years – or real years, depending on how frequently you play and what your strategies are.
While it would be fun to jump into a multiplayer lobby for F1 Manager 2022, it’s ultimately an unrealistic goal for the developers and as much as we’d hope it work in an ideal world, it logically wouldn’t. Still, F1 Manager 2022 is authentically unpredictable and we can’t wait to jump in come the F1 Manager 2022 release date – which isn’t too far away.
