No matter where you look, you’ll find someone talking about Elden Ring. Whether it’s complaints over the notoriously difficult Elden Ring bosses or the mind-blowing speedrunning records creators are setting on an almost daily basis, it’s clear Elden Ring mania has well and truly taken hold – something that’s reflected in the sales charts.
According to NPD Group (the US games sales charts), Elden Ring has become the best-selling game of February 2022, as well as the year so far. That’s an enormous achievement, especially considering the game has only been available for two weeks now.
If that isn’t crazy enough already, Elden Ring launch sales equalled the second highest for any tracked title in the last 12 months – sitting just behind Call of Duty: Vanguard, which dropped in November 2021. It’s unclear how Pokemon Arceus feeds in here, since NPD doesn’t track Nintendo sales, but it’s impressive nevertheless.
Splitting the sales down by platforms also paints an intriguing picture. On both Steam and Xbox, the game sits right at the top of the charts, but on PlayStation, FromSoftware’s latest creation site just behind Horizon Forbidden West – Sony’s first-party game in years.
