It looks like Sony’s PS5 streaming service has messed up in a big way, as players were briefly able to access Destiny 2 The Final Shape ahead of its official June 4 launch. Though the full extent of the Destiny 2 The Final Shape leaks this time around has yet to be confirmed, we’re cracking open the bunker and inviting you in to take shelter from what is likely to be a weekend filled with spoilers around every corner for the PS5 and Xbox game.
Though, thankfully, the final episode of the multiplayer game’s decade-long story arc was swiftly taken down after it was set live – how this managed to happen is unknown – there are some pretty massive spoilers kicking about. According to Forbes’ Paul Tassi, the DLC wasn’t live for long before the servers got taken down, but there are unconfirmed reports that some players were still able to access the content after the fact. Hopefully, we won’t see swathes of major plot beats pop up on socials over the coming days, but it’s possible.
What has been confirmed, however, is the leaking of things like the space game’s new Collections, including “unredacted” loot, mods, and lore tabs. If this also includes raid mods, then players who aren’t afraid to spoil themselves for a competitive advantage will be able to plan more efficiently than those who are saving themselves for the Destiny 2 The Final Shape release date. This perhaps wouldn’t be so much of an issue in D2 expansions past, but considering The Final Shape’s raid will throw its doors open just three days after the DLC launches, there’s now pressure on competitive raiders in particular to swallow their morals and delve in.
So, now you know what’s out there, it’s time to find a safe space to hole up in until The Final Shape arrives. You’re more than welcome to join us at The Loadout HQ, where we can play cards, eat years-old rations, catch rats, and share stories of our various triumphs in the FPS game. Did I tell you about the time I was a Vault of Glass sherpa? Not interested? Okay, maybe I’ll save that for another time…
What’s important, though, is that you steer clear of X (it’s still Twitter), TikTok, and anywhere else you can catch a stray spoiler. If you’re really not keen on knocking the apps on the head, then make sure you set up filters where you can and pray to the Traveller that you get through the weekend unscathed. Fucking hell, Sony.
