Destiny 2’s Season 18 release date is August 23, 2022. Season 18 is set to debut alongside the reveal for Destiny 2’s next expansion, which has been dubbed Lightfall. Season 18 is set to be the penultimate season before the next expansion rolls around later in the year.

With the Destiny 2 Lightfall release date looming, we’re expecting things to start ramping up in the Destiny universe. Season 17 saw us finally meet The Witness, the Black Fleet leader who caused a number of the game’s planets to disappear before the Beyond Light expansion.
We don’t know what The Witness wants yet, and details are light on the ground, but we can expect Season 18 to elaborate more on The Witness’ role in cosmic events.
Destiny 2 Season 18 PvP
For Season 18, Bungie is shaking up its multiplayer PvP gameplay. In Season 17 we got a new Iron Banner game mode called Rift and a new map called Disjunction to play it on that is set in Saavathun’s Throne World.
Season 18 is going to add another new Iron Banner mode called Eruption that plays like Clash, with more energy given based on killstreaks. Bungie will also be tweaking its skill-based matchmaking so that it now takes into consideration player connection speed and quality.
