Destiny 2 Season 17 HELM hint given by game director

"See ya'll in the HELM tomorrow" - Destiny 2 Season 17 is shrouded in mystery, but the space shooter's game director has given a slight hint

Destiny 2 Season 17 has been shrouded in mystery. While Bungie has set out many of the practical changes and features coming to the new season, we know virtually nothing about the story, what the new dungeon might entail, or even which subclass out of Solar or Arc is getting its 3.0 rework. We don’t even know its name yet.

Bungie’s lips have been pretty well sealed, but in a thread on Twitter, Destiny 2 game director Joe Blackburn did give the slightest of hints about what to expect at the start of Season 17 tomorrow. Be warned, it’s not much to go on, but at this stage, we’ll take whatever morsel of info we can get on Season 17’s story.

In the thread, which highlights all of the Bungie team’s hard work and achievements for the launch of the Witch Queen expansion and Season 16, Blackburn ends by looking ahead and telling Destiny 2 fans: “See ya’ll in the HELM Tuesday”.

Like we said, it’s not much to go on, but it least gives fans a starting point for Season 17, and the mention of the HELM, specifically, makes it likely that the story of next season will at least begin with interactions with characters tied to that location – those being Crow, or Lord Saladin and Empress Caiatl, whose PsiOps missions were launched from that destination last season.

Maybe, kicking off the season in the HELM will be as straightforward as a briefing with the Vanguard to set us up with what we’ll be getting up to in Season 17, or maybe Blackburn’s hint will take on a deeper meaning. Right now, we really don’t know for sure – and that’s just how Bungie wants things.

In last week’s TWAB, it was suggested that there would be some kind of Season 17 tease on the morning of the update, but other than that, the majority of players will be going in completely blind. Who knows what you’ll be facing – best make sure you’ve got the best Destiny 2 weapons on hand, just in case.
