If you’re up to the challenge, completing the Root of Nightmares Master difficulty is well worth the effort. And if you’re really serious, we’ve got a guide to all the Destiny 2 Root of Nightmares challenges available.
How to beat the Destiny 2 Illuminated Torment Challenge
To complete the Illuminated Torment challenge in Destiny 2, you must only kill Tormentors while holding the Field of Light buff.
If you’ve got a well coordinated team then the Cataclysm challenge should be a breeze. Decide on who does what as you normally would during the Root of Nightmares raid and be certain that only those with the Field of Light buff kill the Tormentors.
However, while only those with the buff can kill the Tormentors for the Illuminated Torment challenge, other players can still damage them. If your team is struggling, have everyone damage the Tormentor until they are weak, but stop shooting before they are killed. Have those with the Field of Light buff get the final blow on the low health Tormentor.
And that’s how to beat the Destiny 2 Illuminated Torment challenge in Root of Nightmares Master difficulty. This is one of four challenges added with the Master mode raid that will grant great new rewards. Be sure to have the best Destiny 2 PvE weapons by your side if you’re taking on the Illuminated Torment challenge.
