Fortnite’s Battle Bus has crash-landed in Destiny 2 Season of Plunder

Destiny 2's collaboration with Fortnite has brought some epic loot to both games, but it's also left a not-so-subtle easter egg in the Last City

If you go down to the Eliksni Quarter during Destiny 2 Season of Plunder, you may come across a familiar sight. No, it isn’t Spider. It’s in fact a not-so-subtle Fortnite easter egg to commemorate its current crossover.

The crossover between Destiny 2 and Fortnite sees the two behemoths of the online shooter scene trade skins and cosmetics for the next few months. But with a collaboration of this scale (and with both parties singing each other’s praises about their respective games), we were always bound to see a few easter eggs hidden in both games.

Well, some eagle-eyed Guardians have already spotted Fortnite’s legendary Battle Bus propping up a wall in the Last City. You can find it by jumping into the Destinations Map, heading to the HELM, and selecting the Eliksni Quarter. The bus is on the left as you spawn in, blending seamlessly into the clutter of the Fallen’s shanty town.

While crossovers are no rare thing in Fortnite, Destiny 2 has very, very few fan-service moments like this. Late last year there were some Halo-themed goodies to be earned to celebrate Bungie’s 30th Anniversary. This collaboration saw the inclusion of several weapons and vehicles, including the incredible Forerunner Exotic Sidearm that closely resembles Halo’s famous pistol and the BXR-55 Battler that reflects Halo’s battle rifle. But aside that and a few subtle references to other properties, Destiny 2 usually keeps itself to itself.

However, with Season of Plunder Bungie seems to be rewarding players for getting through several relatively dark, grim story seasons by making it all about pirates, loot, and high-speed fun thanks to Arc 3.0. We’ve witnessed friendships sundered and the testing of our faith in the Traveler, and so Bungie reminding everyone that Destiny 2 is also about having fun and acting out our space pirate fantasies is a nice move.

While you’re in the middle of build-crafting with all the best armor and best Destiny 2 weapons for Season of the Plunder, and awaiting the return of Iron Banner, why not head down to the Eliksni Quarter and pay your respects to Fortnite’s Battle Bus before the Fallen completely strip it for parts.
