Is Death Stranding 2 coming to PS4? Kojima Productions will bring Death Stranding 2: On the Beach to Sony’s latest console, but you might be wondering if there are plans for a Death Stranding 2 PS4 release too.
The first Death Stranding debuted on PlayStation 4, before the revamped Death Stranding Director’s Cut brought it to life on PS5. It is one of the best PS5 games you can play right now, and DS2 looks to follow suit. While we know for sure that the Death Stranding 2 release date will see it launch on PS5, there will be many hoping for a PS4 version too.
Is Death Stranding 2 coming to PS4?
Kojima Productions is yet to confirm a Death Stranding 2 PS4 version. The only confirmed platform is PS5, according to the game’s reveal trailer at The Game Awards in 2022.
With Death Stranding 2’s visual fidelity and large open world gameplay, it looks like Kojima Productions needs all the hardware power it can get for Sam’s next adventure. That means it’s highly unlikely we’ll see a PS4 version announced. That being said, it is possible a scaled back version of Death Stranding 2 could manifest, as you never know what Hideo Kojima is crafting behind the scenes.
However, for now, Death Stranding 2 looks like it will remain a PS5 exclusive. Well, until Kojima potentially reveals a Director’s Cut for Death Stranding 2 that could see it ported to over PC like the first game. With new PS5 games like The Last of Us 2 Remastered giving players additional insight to the game’s development, cut features, and expanded modes, we’d be curious to see what Death Stranding 2’s full release will be like.
The Death Stranding Director’s Cut added in some great quality-of-life features like 60 FPS for PS5 players, as well as new gadgets like the Catapult – an extremely useful way to transport cargo. Players could also equip some fresh cosmetics to Sam too, giving everything from the Exoskeleton to Sam’s glasses a new coat of paint. It even added some new areas to roam around in, and training mode features that reminded us of Metal Gear Solid VR missions from back in the PlayStation 1 days.
For the time being, though, be sure to check out some of the other best PS5 open world games available. Some of the options on our list have PS4 versions that are sure to tide you over until we get further confirmation.
